Inquirers' Class
 

Those who would like to learn more about membership are welcome to attend our Inquirers' Class on June 3 and June 10, at 9:15 a.m. in Pastor Myers office.  The Inquirers' Class will provide you with an opportunity to discuss questions regarding faith in Jesus Christ, membership in Christ's church, and the ministry of Faith United Presbyterian Church.  On Sunday, June 17, at 9:00 a.m., those choosing to become members will meet for breakfast with our session and be welcomed in worship that morning.

Faith & Life - This group will meet in the Social Hall.

John White will lead a discussion of the movie, "Shellbyville" .  He will

especially look at it compared to Monmouth. 

 

May 25   

No Sunday School - We'll see you again in the Fall for new classes.

  
 

Sunday Bible Study - This group will meet in the classroom across from the Chapel.  Will meet on May 20. 

 

 

Special Music for Sunday - May 20, 2012

 

Madeline Christensen, Flute
Lucas Wood , Baritone

Madeline Christensen, holds degrees in Flute Performance and Music Education from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.  She has won top awards in various competitions in the Chicago area and has performed with the Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra.  She recently performed a solo flute recital at the Chicago Cultural Center.  Madeline currently enjoys making new musical connections in the Monmouth and Galesburg area and directs the band at United Junior High and High School.

Lucas Wood, a baritone, now resides in Galesburg, IL.  He earned a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.  While there he studied with Richard Stilwell.  Lucas is in his fourth season with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Chorus.  An extensive performer, he has many opera roles in his repertoire, including the title roles in Handel's Giulio Cesare and Mozart's Don Giovanni.  During a summer residency in Italy he performed the role of Schaunard in Puccini's La Boheme.  While in Galesburg, he is performing with NOVA singers.

Help us stock the food pantry at Jamieson!  You may bring anything non-perishable and place it under the sign outside the office.  To make it easier, you could go with a schedule such as this:

Isabel Circle
                                           

Isabel Circle will meet at 7:00 p.m. on May 24th at the home of Jane Kellogg at 1012 East Euclid Avenue in Monmouth.  Janice Cunningham will facilitate Lesson Eight: Greatly Honored Are Those Who Have Been Persecuted For The Sake Of Justice! from 2011-2012 Horizons Bible Study: Confessing the Beatitudes.  All members and friends of the church are welcome to attend.  For more information, contact Sharon Graham at 309-627-2484.

Icebreakers

Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging Volunteer
                                           

The Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging (WIAAA) is seeking individuals interested in planning for the needs of older adults in a ten-county area of western Illinois to serve as Advisory Council members.  Council members act in an advisory capacity to the WIAAA Board of Directors and staff.  The Council assists in determining priorities, identifying problem areas and needs and defining agency goals.  One opening currently exists in each of the following:  LaSalle and Warren Counties.  Advisory Council meetings are conducted the third Wednesday of each month at the Agency offices in Rock Island.  Mileage and lunch are furnished.  Please contact Deb Astillo at (309)793-6800 or (800)322-1051 for more information or if you or anyone you know would be interested in these openings.  

   

 

Survivor Registration Form 2012
                                           

Cancer survivors are welcomed and encouraged to register for Relay for Life of Warren County on their website www.relayforlife.org/warrenil, but Heather also has registration forms in the office you'd like to pick one up.  Registration forms are due by June 1, 2012.

 

The American Cancer Society considers a cancer survivor to be anyone who defines himself or herself this way, from the time of diagnosis throughout the balance of his or her life.
