Awesome Week at VBS
We've had such a fabulous time at VBS this year thanks to such wonderful, dedicated people who donated and let us borrow items needed, helped set-up on Sunday afternoon, served as teachers, story tellers, aides, and kitchen helpers who prepared and set-up snacks.  We were also blessed to have nine youth volunteer their time to help out!

The number of children that participated this year was 53!

The theme this year - Shake it Up Café - was to remind us that Jesus calls us to "shake up" our lives and become his followers.  This week we stirred into Bible stories that explored times of celebration and showed how these celebrations gave God's people the fundamental ingredients for carrying out God's Word.

The children learned five "secret ingredients" that help them understand key steps they can take to live as followers of God.  These ingredients are:

 *Be ready for God.

 *Give happily to God.

 *Believe fully in Jesus.

 *Remember Jesus often.

 *Celebrate God forever.

Dear gracious God, thank you for letting us experience the power of your presence this week at our Vacation Bible School.  Thank you for sending your Son, Jesus, as a Savior to the world.  Help us remember to shake up our lives by being ready for your call, giving happily to you and to others, believing in Jesus, remembering often Jesus' life, death, and resurrection, and celebrating you forever!  In the name of Jesus we pray.  Amen.

(If you'd like to listen to the songs the VBS children have been working on all week, please stop by one of the nursing homes on Friday.  We will sing at Monmouth Nursing Home first around 10:45, then we'll go to Legacy Estates, and follow up at Courtyard.)
