Sermon:
"What are We Waiting For?"
"For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, so that by steadfastness and by the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope. May the God of steadfastness and encouragement grant you to live in harmony with one another, in accordance with Christ Jesus, so that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."

"An Invitation to Read the Bible"
On November 28, we began our challenge to read the Bible in a year. Below is a list of the second week. You may also find your daily/weekly Scripture readings in the bulletin, e-newsletter, or on Facebook. And for families, the C.E. committee came up with an idea to make it easier for parents to read the Bible with their children. We have purchased 15 - 365 day children's Bibles. There is a story for each day of the day with pictures. If your family would like to have one of these Bibles, please let Margie know by calling 734-5129.
Sunday (12/5) - Genesis 20:18-23:20 Monday - Genesis 24:1-25:33
Tuesday - Genesis 25:34-27:45 Wednesday - Genesis 27:46-30:21 Thursday - Genesis 30:22-31:55 Friday - Genesis 32:1-34:31 Saturday - Genesis 35:1-37:24 Sunday - Genesis 37:25-40:22

What Do You Think?

How is it Going?
The first week of Advent and I am already behind! As I write, it is 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. Our newsletter deadline has come and gone. Kindly, Heather asks: "Do you have anything for the newsletter?" Sure.
We are four days into our "Invitation to Read the Bible." While I have no way of knowing how many of our congregation are committing themselves to reading the Bible, I have enjoyed hearing from a handful who have.
They seem to be keeping up well and are enjoying the challenge. To a person, they have all been surprised how easy it has been to do. For most, the readings have only taken about 10-15 minutes each day. This is comparable to what my family has found, when we have read the passages on our own. When we read the passages, together, we find it takes a little longer.
This is probably been the greatest joy. When we read the passages together, we inevitably engage in conversation about the scriptures we have read.
In some ways, such conversation is not knew. Our family has often engage in theological conversations about life, faith, and church. A hazard of the profession.
However, these biblical
conversations are a little different. Here we are wrestling together with
God's Word. Asking questions. Offering insights. I can't tell you, even in this short time, what a gift it has been to read the scriptures with my teenage son (yes, Margie, too). My only regret is that Elizabeth is not here
to join us.
I know our journey has just begun. Where it will take us, God knows. If you have started reading your bible daily, I hope you are finding a few blessings, as well. If you haven't, it's not too late to join us. I look forward to seeing how this journey changes our lives and our life together. Especially in this season of Advent, I believe we will see ever more clearly, God is with us.
See you in church!
Pastor Myers
