Fraud E-Mails from the "IRS"
Several consumers have received emails claiming to be from the IRS. They state: "Your Tax payment, recently sent from your bank account was rejected by the your Bank." This email contains what appears to be a .pdf attachment. The attachment is actually malware intended to hijack your computer. If you receive this message, please delete immediately.
You may send tax payments through the IRS EFTPS site, which is a free tax payment system provided by the U.S. Department of Treasury. As always, if you think an email is suspicious, it most likely is. If you have any questions about the validity of an email, call immediately.
Please visit the IRS website for more information about this particular scam. |
