Angel Tree |
Angel Tree - For all you early shoppers, our Angel Tree is ready as of November 20! This year we will provide "Christmas Blessings" for 10 families from Chancellor Elementary School, our neighbor school down the road. In addition to the Christmas wishes of our recipients, we will provide a box of food that is part of the Boy Scout "Scouting for Food" project. Matching funds have been approved by Thrivent Financials for Lutheran so save and return your receipts!
All you need to do:
- Pick a tag from the Angel Tree
- Buy the wished for item, and gift wrap
- Attach the information tag to the present
- Return to the church by Sunday, December 13
- Place your purchase receipt in the designated basket
Thanks!

It's Not Too Late! |
An Important Note from the RLC Mission Endowment Fund Board...
It's Not Too Late!
Are you seventy and a half or older? Did you know you may direct your IRA distribution to make a gift? Persons 70 ½ or older may direct a distribution from one or more of their IRAs to make a gift to Resurrection Lutheran Church before year's end and would qualify for the annual required minimum distribution (RMD). There are some important steps to follow as well as information to consider. The gift must be complete by December 31, 2011. Persons considering this gift option are encouraged to act swiftly. The maximum IRS allowable gift is $100,000. To facilitate the gift the IRA owner must:
- Direct the IRA administrator, in writing, to make a gift to Resurrection. A form letter is available. Contact Mission Endowment Fund Board member Judy Thompson at judithathompson@gmail.com.
- Write a gift letter to the treasurer of Resurrection to inform him of the forthcoming gift and the intended use of the gift. A form letter is also available from Judy Thompson at the above email address.
The amount may be used to fulfill a pledge to the congregation.
This IRA gift may not count as a charitable contribution since the funds are directly paid to the church. To receive a charitable contribution, you would have to receive the income. The benefit of the IRA distribution is that you avoid paying taxes on the amount you give. In other words, no double dipping.
Finally, you are encouraged to consult your financial advisor or planner before making a sizeable gift to be sure this is in your best interest. This deadline is soon approaching, so make that call soon.
