News On-line!

Dear Friends in Christ,

THIS FRIDAY our congregation is participating in the 400th aniversary commemorative reading of the King James translation of the Holy Bible.  In cooperation with other Fredericksburg area churches, we have been assigned to read First and Second Chronicles, Ezra, and Nehemia on Friday Sept 23rd from 5 to 11 PM in our Sanctuary.  Sign up to read in 15 minute blocks by adding your name to the display board in the narthex, or calling the church office at (540) 786-7778.  There are still a few slots open in 2nd Chronicles and Nehemiah

KJV

If you'd rather not read, come to
listen and pray anytime between
5 and 11 PM.

Holy Curiosity

Amy H.

Here's a new book by our good friend Amy Hollingsworth.  Amy  is the author of The Simple Faith of Mister Rogers (2005), based on her nine-year friendship with television's Fred Rogers, and Gifts of Passage: What the Dying Tell Us with the Gifts They Leave Behind (2008). She taught as an adjunct professor of psychology at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia, where she lives with her husband, Jeff, and their children, Jonathan and Emily.

Most people think in terms of either/or, Amy writes in her new book HOLY CURIOSITY. "Either I am creative or I am not."  But Amy offers irrefutable evidence that everyone is creative in some area and helps the reader unlock the secret to their own creative gifts, so that they discover this truth for themselves:  "I can't be good at everything, but I can be great at some things."

"Here is the truly Christian life, here is faith really working by love, when a man applies himself with joy and love to the works of that freest servitude in which he serves others voluntarily and for nought, himself abundantly satisfied in the fullness and riches of his own faith."
