Vacation Bible School     11-15 July 2011

Dear Friends in Christ,

Our Annual Vacation Bible School is almost ready for action from July 11th through the 15th!  This is a great outreach we offer each year to our friends and neighbors.  This is not just for RLC kids...we offer it free of charge to any child from the community.  So pass this e-mail on to friends who have kids looking for some fun activities!   Go to the VBS Webpage for more info and registration forms.

Youth Ministry

Parents and Other Interested Adults!

We want to have a really fine youth ministry at Resurrection and I need your help in making plans.  This Sunday, June 26, we will have a Town Hall Meeting Regarding Youth Ministry at 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. in the Youth Room.  We are inviting all interested adults plus parents of youth/children in these three age groups: High School, Middle School and Elementary School.  High school youth and middle school youth are welcome to attend.  Elementary school children should be in the Super Heroes of the Bible Class in the Conference Room.

Here is what I intend to cover in this session: occasional gatherings for youth and/or families in each category over the summer; ideas for youth ministry at Resurrection; folks willing to serve on a task force for putting together a youth ministry plan.  We will have other sessions during the coming weeks, to be announced.

Our Congregation Council is very supportive of our efforts to re-establish our Youth Ministry at Resurrection.  They have asked us to present a plan in August for their approval.  Our plans may include a part-time staff person for youth ministry.  We hope to start putting our plan in place as soon as possible.  Any questions, e-mail at txbe2godx2@comcast.net

 or phone me at 540-845-2427.

Ed Meese to Remember Ronald Reagan

 Edwin Meese III

Edwin Meese III, former Attorney General of the United States, will be the presenter at our Adult Forum on July 3.  His topic is "Remembering Ronald Reagan".  Ed was a long-time friend and confidant of our 40th President.  He will share stories and insights from their many years working together as colleagues.  2011 is the 100th anniversary of the birth of President Reagan.  Please invite family and friends.  We'll gather in the Fellowship Hall from 9:45 to 10:45.

For a short biography on Ed, see our Webpage announcement of this event.

"Here is the truly Christian life, here is faith really working by love, when a man applies himself with joy and love to the works of that freest servitude in which he serves others voluntarily and for nought, himself abundantly satisfied in the fullness and riches of his own faith."
