Pentecost

Dear Friends in Christ,

On Pentecost this past Sunday, seven young men and women affirmed their baptism.  Their photo below has been added to our display of all the other photos of past affirmations on the wall in the library.  Congratulations to our newest adult members of Resurrection!

  • While you're on the News page...you can find out who is serving in what worship assistant position for the coming months.  Go to the bottom right corner of the page.

  • Please remember to attend our Congregational Meeting this Sunday (June 19th) from 9:45 to 10:45 AM in the Sanctuary.  We'll be affirming the nomination of Karen Meyer, Betty Parde, Spike Roberts, and Sharon Vines to serve on Council.  We've heard from a significant number of folks that they will be out of town this Sunday, so attendance by those in town is especially important.

  • Summer Sunday School for our children goes in the Library and Conference Room from 9:45 to 10:45 AM.  This year's theme is Super Heroes of the Bible.

  • Meets on the first Saturday of every month from 0800-0900 in the Fellowship Hall. On July 2nd Pastor Jim brings breakfast and Eric Carlson leads the study on the Ascension.  Got a project you need us to do?  Please let us know!

Thanks, Barry!

Have you ever struggled with what to give a friend or loved one on his or her birthday or anniversary? What about Mother's Day? Father's Day? Valentines Day? Christmas? Last year I was elected to the RLC Mission Endowment Fund Board.  We've been very busy talking about legacy gifts.  In fact, we've written several newsletter articles to illustrate different ways to give.  During our last meeting, however, we talked about Tribute Gifts. These are gifts of any amount given to the Mission Endowment Fund in honor of a special day or person in your life.  Our Fund is just starting, so any amount of an endowment gift will help our church establish a base amount, so we can start using mission funds to enhance our congregation's outreach.  Barry heard about tribute gifts and, lo and behold, guess what I received for my birthday this year?  A donation to the Fund in honor of me, Judy Thompson! (And Barry admitted it was the easiest shopping trip he's ever made!) It's so easy.  Just make your check payable to the RLC Mission Endowment Fund and pop it in the offering plate or send/give it to the church office.

2011-2012 Witness and Service Forms

wHave you turned in your Witness and Service form yet? Turning in this form lets our ministry team leaders know how you feel called to bear witness and service in the coming year (July 2011 through June 2012).

The forms are available in the Narthex for anyone who hasn't turned one in yet.  Or, you can download your own at home, fill it out, and bring it to church to put in the offering plate any Sunday.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO PUT YOUR NAME ON THE FORM in the space marked "Name:"

NEW THIS YEAR! You can fill out your response on-line if you like, and then see general results about how many folks have signed up for what ministries. Give it a try!

Thanks!

"Here is the truly Christian life, here is faith really working by love, when a man applies himself with joy and love to the works of that freest servitude in which he serves others voluntarily and for nought, himself abundantly satisfied in the fullness and riches of his own faith."
