News You Can Use...
  • Input for the May Newsletter is due to Carol Ann by Friday the 15th of April.

  • The first report on April 10 is very good!  60 of our families turned in their estimate of sharing cards for a total of $306,000+.  You can still bring your estimate of sharing cards to church this Sunday or mail them to the church office.

  • Some of our families did not receive their offering envelopes in the quarterly mailing as usual.  We apologize for this inconvenience and we're working with the  envelope company to track down the problem.  In the meantime, we encourage you to give your offerings in either the pew envelopes or in an envelope you bring from home.  Have considered electronic giving?  If you have not received your offering envelopes in the mail, we ask that you alert our Financial Secretary, Donna Roberts at donnaroberts1007@yahoo.com

  • The Final Act of our Lenten Drama The People Vs. Judas Iscariot is presented this Wednesday evening, April 13, at 6:30.  The congregation serves as the jury and will be asked to vote on the guilt or innocence of Judas.  Results will be shared in the bulletin on Palm Sunday.  Please come early for the Soup Supper from 5:30 to 6:30.

  • Our Congregation's Spring Cleaning Day is this Saturday, April 16.  Please help prepare the inside areas of our facilities for Holy Week and Easter.  Remember, lots of hands make light work!  Come at 9:00 a.m. and stay until 1:00 p.m.  Not available this Saturday or taking part in the Group Walk?  How about coming out earlier in the week and washing  windows?  For those with mowers, we will also be mowing the church lawns for the first time this season.  We want to especially prepare the lawn areas for the Children's Egg Hunt on Easter.

  • Sue Perdue has prepared another 100 invitations for Holy Week and Easter.  Please take one or two this Sunday to give to folks you would like to personally invite.  The good news of Jesus is too good to keep to ourselves!

  • This Sunday, April 17, is Palm Sunday, the entrance to Holy Week.  We worship at 8:30 and 11:00.  Please gather in the Fellowship Hall for preparation to the procession with palms into the Sanctuary.

A Dozen Words Can Make A Difference

In this time of giving our gifts to the glory of God, a bequest in your will, living trust, or other estate plans could benefit Resurrection Lutheran Church and other charitable causes you care about.

When you inform your attorney of a desire to include one or more charitable bequests in your will, you will need to provide the complete name of the ministry, the physical address, city and state.  If you have a desire to designate the use of your bequest, it would be wise to have a conversation with someone in the organization before your will is drafted.

This simple statement, approximately a dozen words, is all you need to create a bequest: I direct ___% of my estate to the Mission Endowment Fund of Resurrection Lutheran Church, 6170 Plank Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407.  It would also be helpful to provide the tax-exempt number (Federal I.D. number) of RLC.  See anyone in the church office for this number.

It's that simple. A dozen words or so will make a difference in ministries of our church and give you great joy for a plan well made.

Our Mission Endowment Fund Board is currently chaired by Ken Tillman. If you would like more information, you may reach him at kendee@verizon.net or 540.972.3918.  In addition, you may contact Pastor George Sims, the Virginia Synod Director of the Mission Office, at 877-526-2448 or by email at director@plan2giv.org .

"Here is the truly Christian life, here is faith really working by love, when a man applies himself with joy and love to the works of that freest servitude in which he serves others voluntarily and for nought, himself abundantly satisfied in the fullness and riches of his own faith."
