Dear Friends in Christ,
 Come, Thou long expected Jesusadventcover
Born to set Thy people free;
From our fears and sins release us,
Let us find our rest in Thee.
Israel's Strength and Consolation,
Hope of all the earth Thou art;
Dear Desire of every nation,
Joy of every longing heart.

Please be careful while driving!

Thanks to Tom Evans for sharing a powerful video about the dangers of drinking and driving.  This video link will play a five-minute clip on You-Tube which culminates in a sobering graphic depiction of very severe automobile crashes and their consequences.  This is a tangible high-impact public service message for all drivers (you will feel the message, not just understand it intellectually).   Children younger than driving age probably ought not watch it -- parental discretion advised.

Cooks for Christ

feedingIf you like to cook and would like to volunteer for something new at Resurrection we want you! We are organizing teams to prepare and deliver meals to folks in our congregation during times of need, i.e., recuperating from surgery, accidents or other events in their lives. Please contact Judy Troast if you are interested. Phone: 540-972-5541, jltroast@aol.com

Fifth Saturday Meals

Want to be part of a growing ministry?  RLC prepares and serves free meals in downtown Fredericksburg at The Presbyterian Church every 5th Saturday afternoon.  If you'd like to be part of this team, please contact Gail Taylor.  Our next meal will be on January 29th.  The graph below shows how many meals we prepared in 2010...

Draft Statement of Purpose

rlcOn Sunday, November 14th, the Church Council communicated to the congregation its proposal for a Purpose Statement and Guiding Principles for our church.  This was done through a document that is now posted on the RLC website.  The proposal comes after a successful congregation-wide survey in September, and draft purpose statements from our various ministry teams in October.  The Council now invites feedback from the congregation on the proposed Purpose Statement and Guiding Principles.   Based on such feedback, the Council will issue a final version that will be voted upon at our semi-annual Congregational Meeting on January 30, 2011.

Missing Confirmation Photo

We recently inventoried our collection of confirmation photos, and have found 2 missing.  One missing is from 1995.  The other is either 2006 or 2007.  Can anyone identify the year of the photo below (hint...it's either 2006 or 2007).  Does anyone have a copy of the 1995 confirmation class photo?  If so, please let Eric Carlson know.  Thanks.

2006 or 2007?

advent 1

"Here is the truly Christian life, here is faith really working by love, when a man applies himself with joy and love to the works of that freest servitude in which he serves others voluntarily and for nought, himself abundantly satisfied in the fullness and riches of his own faith."
