A Prayer for Maundy Thursday

Lord God,  you left to us in a wonderful Sacrament the memorial of your Passion.   Grant to us that we may so partake of this Holy Sacrament of your precious Body and Blood, that the fruits of your redemption may continually be manifest in us as we walk with you through this painful journey unto life everlasting.
  Amen!

Help us catch-up after our "Snowfall Shortfall"

Please remember to bring your Snowfall Shortfall envelopes with an extra gift this week!

snowfall shortfall
Where can we get 3 additional weeks worth of offering to give?  How about your 2009 state and federal income tax refunds?  Not getting a refund?  You can fix that problem next year by giving more to your church in 2010!

Additional details on financial giving are available on-line at:

Food of the Month

The Food of the Month this month is...

CANNED MEATS (Chicken, Spam, Ham, Tuna, Salmon, etc)

Bring a can to worship and leave it in the Food of the Month basket in the narthex.  These donations go to our Christ Lutheran foodbank in downtown Fredericksburg.

Middle School Youth Group

Our Middle School Youth group just completed a very successful Lock-In this past Sunday.  The youth stayed up all night watching movies, stuffing Easter eggs for the Youth Easter hunt and generally bonding with one another in the spirit of good Christian fun.

Our next big event occurs on April 25, 2010.  This will be our spring fundraiser titled "Rent a Youth for Spring".  For a donation, our youth can be "rented" for a two hour block to visit a congregational member's home to assist with spring cleaning chores such as washing windows, mowing the lawn, spreading mulch, etc.  Starting this Sunday a sign-up sheet will be placed on the bulletin board and parishioners can bid on individual youths to assist in their spring cleaning chores.  Bidding will cease on 18 April 2010 and the youths will be visiting the home of the winning bidders on 25 April 2010 immediately after the afternoon services at a time mutually agreed upon by all parties.  All chores picked out for our youth must be able to be completed within the two hour window and must not pose a hazard to the health and safety of our youth. So bid early and bid often.  If you have any questions, the point of contact is Kenneth Gall at 804-892-9957.

"Here is the truly Christian life, here is faith really working by love, when a man applies himself with joy and love to the works of that freest servitude in which he serves others voluntarily and for nought, himself abundantly satisfied in the fullness and riches of his own faith."
