Dear Friends in Christ,

"We are in the midst of a season of trial. Our Nation is being tested, and our people know great uncertainty. Yet the story of America is one of renewal in the face of adversity, reconciliation in a time of discord, and we know that there is a purpose for everything under heaven."

President Barack Obama

Proclamation on National Day of Renewal and Reconciliation

Friends, please note how President Obama uses the language of Holy Scripture in his first proclamation.  This is what our Lutheran "Book of Faith" initiative is about...read on...
Book of Faith

Book of Faith...To become more fluent in the first language of faith, the language of Scripture, in order that we might live into our calling as a people renewed, enlivened, empowered, and sent by the Word.  All are welcome to join in an on-line discussion of the faithful language used by President Obama in his first proclamation.  Join our new Resurrection People group on Facebook, and post your responses to the Book of Faith discussion!  Expect more discussions on-line as we learn to use this new forum.

Lutheran Bishops' Report

crosstempleOur Presiding Bishop Mark Hanson joined scores of other Lutheran Bishops -- to include our own Virginia Bishop Jim Mauney -- in an historic visit to Jordan and Israel during the height of violence in the Gaza region.  Read the Report and Reflections from their journey...

Gracious God, grant peace among nations. Cleanse from our own hearts the seeds of strife: greed and envy, harsh misunderstandings and ill will, fear and desire for revenge. Make us quick to welcome ventures in cooperation among the peoples of the world, so that there may be woven the fabric of a common good too strong to be torn by the evil hands of war. In the time of opportunity, make us diligent; and in the time of peril, let not our courage fail; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Simply Giving

Give On-lineHave you considered setting up electronic transfer from your checking or savings accounts through the "Simply Giving" program?  It's easy, and you can do it yourself on-line.  Anywhere you see "Buzz the Stewardship Bee" on our website, you can click on it and go to our Simply Giving site.  In case you ever need to use it, take a look and see how easy it is to set up recurring donations from your bank accounts or credit cards.  This is especially convenient for folks who travel, and are not able to join us for worship each week.  See Bev Floyd for questions about your giving, or Eric Carlson for technical help in doing this on-line.
