Shishmaref Lutheran Church |
SHISHMAREF, ALASKA:
Our World Mission Support Team at Resurrection is providing support to the Northern-most ELCA congregation in the world. A large blue box is in the Narthex each Sunday until October 19th for items collected for the Inuits (Eskimos) in Shishmaref on subsistence living. Suggested items are clothing, boots, sneakers, socks, tee shirts, dry baby formula, American toothpaste, toothbrushes, bars of soap, craft items, sewing supplies, and dried fruit. See Liv Hauge for details!
Our congregation provides specific support to: Shishmaref Lutheran in Alaska; Missionaries in Nepal; Missionaries in Eritrea; and in partnership with our Virginia Synod, the church in Papua New Guinea.

Building Progress |
Our new addition now has electric power! Drywall is almost complete on the interior, with painting scheduled for next week. Ceilings, interior lighting, and floor coverings will follow through October. Standby for major work on curbs, sidewalks, and the parking lot in the weeks ahead! Bishop Mauney will be here on October 26th to view progress on Reformation Sunday as we near completion!

Offering Envelope Boxes |
Our next mailing of offering envelopes should be here soon! If you miss the old offering envelope boxes, just make one out of wood (much better than cardboard!). This is an easy project for young woodworkers (much easier than a birdhouse!). Having one for each child helps keep their offering envelopes organized, and following the example set by their parents, really helps to build a discipline of regular giving... of sharing...of being a blessing to others. Every member of the family should get their own offering envelopes...and have a neat box to keep them in! |
Update on Offerings |
We rejoice in your faithful support and financial giving to RLC!
During the 11 weeks into our current fiscal year that started July 1, our M&M offerings are $90,224, representing 89.5% of budget to-date versus 88.3% for the same period last year. In addition, $29,436 was received for the Capital Fund during this period, bringing the grand accumulated Capital giving total to roughly $980,000 to-date! We've given almost a million dollars toward our new building over the past 4 years!
We bee-lieve that during this period many members were away on vacation and that also affected offerings received. We hope thatwith your support the 10.5 % gap in M&M receipts will bee closed as normal schedules resume.
Thank you for your dedicated support as we have bee-gun a great year and our RLC family is truly bee-ing blessed!
