Post Congregational Meeting Survey |
The results of the post-congregational-meeting survey are now posted. To see the results in a .pdf format, click here. Below are some of the general responses received:
Different time of day. Late on a Sunday is not very convenient. Many (most?) congregations have one annual meeting. Why do we have two? It would be helpful to have budget available sooner - good to have it that day, but a week or so earlier with opportunity for ?s would be nice. Schedule date and time to accommodate greater attendance; minimize conflict with sporting events. One service mid morning with meeting to follow immediately. Have January meeting earlier in the day because of weather/darkness. Continue to provide information ahead of meeting.
Work on improving microphone usage. Right after church in in-between services After second service in the new FH. Choose months when attendance will not be hindered by vacations or snow birding. Great meeting; thanks. Have more fun; don't use microphones!
Thanks to the dozen folks who participated in the survey! |
The Gift of Giving |
Two extraordinary gifts made headlines: Warren Buffett, the world's third richest man, donated the biggest gift in U.S. history-$30 billion-to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The second noteworthy gift-a more modest $150,000-was donated to The University of Southern Mississippi by Oseola McCarty, one of the state's poorest citizens. She spent more than eighty years washing and ironing clothes. A disciplined saver, she wanted "somebody's child to go to college," an opportunity she never had. She sacrificed to make certain she saved one person from her fate. Most of us possess resources somewhere between these two high-profile contributors. Follow the example of Oseola McCarthy. Her scotchtape-bound Bible opened to 2 Corinthians 9:11: "You will be made rich in every way, so that you can be generous on every occasion."(NIV)
What life changes could you make that would enable you to move your giving into the top 5 percent of all households? |
