Throughout the 50's, 60's 70's and 80's former Senator Barry Goldwater influenced the baby boom generation - conservatives and liberals alike (Hillary Clinton was a Goldwater girl, after all!).  But is his philosophy still relevant today at this important crossroads in modern political history?  How did Goldwater perceive his successor, John McCain?  How would he relate to Ron Paul or Barack Obama?  How has his legacy not only shaped the politics of the boomer generation, but how is it likely to shape those of future generations as well? GOLDWATER

Find out on Tuesday, September 9, 5:45pm, when Barry Goldwater Jr. will discuss his father's previously unpublished private journal, much of it never discussed during his life, and how it reveals the life, times, and thinking of a political figure whose devotion to politics and public service were iconic. Barry Goldwater Jr. will also remind us of what his father's conservative ideals really were, how they have been changed by those who now claim the label, how he rejected contemporary devisive tactics and approaches to campaigning for elective office and governing, and, even more importantly for an elected official, his belief in an overriding need for honesty in public service.

Barry Goldwater, Jr. is the co-author (with John Dean) of Pure Goldwater.  He is a former Goldwater Jr.Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from California, 1969-1983 and the son of the late Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater.  After retiring from politics Goldwater moved to Los Angeles and pursued a career in the financial sector specializing in security law and underwriting where his clients were major US banks and insurance companies. Goldwater became a member of the New York Stock Exchange and a partner in what is now Wedbush Morgan Securities (formerly Noble Cook, Inc.).

Goldwater now lives in Phoenix, Arizona, with his second wife, Sylvia Goldwater, and near his son Barry M. Goldwater, III.

Charles Goyette has been, for many years, a popular radio personality based in Phoenix.  Ron SchottHe is perhaps best known across the nation for refusing demands that he support the war in Iraq. Like Barry Goldwater Jr., Goyette has supported the candidacy of Ron Paul. Because of his "political incorrectness," outspokenness, and positions on the issues, he has been dubbed "America's Most Independent Talk Show Host!"  He has two sons - Michael and Steven.  He and his wife Ali live in Scottsdale.
