On August 27th and 28th, ParaSport Ontario will launch its new fundraising event - Play24. Over the course of twenty four hours, participants will raise money for ParaSport Ontario and the Ontario Wheelchair Sports Association while setting a Canadian record for the longest wheelchair basketball game.
Taking place at the Harbourfront Community Centre in Toronto, the event will have a festival-like atmosphere, with prizes being awarded to participants every hour. Ready Willing and Able parasport stations will be open for the general public to try. If you haven't already registered for the event and want to participate, you can so so by visiting the ParaSport Ontario website at www.parasportontario.ca or come on down during the event to cheer on the participants and show them your support. |

Concert for Inclusion is Coming
Preparations are well under way for the 3rd annual Concert for Inclusion in Toronto. The date and venue have been set for Thursday October 7, 2010 at the Glenn Gould Studio. Another fabulous lineup of top Toronto performers will take to the stage in support of athletes with physical disabilities. To recognize the outstanding accomplishments of our Canadian athletes at the 2010 Vancouver Paralympic and Olympic Winter Games, the theme of this year's Concert will be "Remembering Vancouver".
The 2010 Concert for Inclusion is shaping up to be another evening of fabulous entertainment featuring artists such as singer-song-writer Justin Hines as well as the incredibly talented Jackie Richardson; Andrew Craig; Celine Dion impersonator, Laura Landauer; and others.

ParaSport Ontario is pleased to be accepting nominations for the 2010 Dr. Robert W. Jackson Medal of Distinction. ParaSport & Paralympic clubs, teams, organizations, Provincial Sport Organizations, Multi-Sport Organizations and National Sport Organizations are encouraged to nominate outstanding leaders who have exemplified extraordinaryleadership, dedication and excellence in sport for athletes with a physical disability. Welcome Toronto Tornadoes

Toronto has a new wheelchair basketball team - the Toronto Tornadoes. The Advisory Board was appointed at the end of the season team barbeque and practice in June. The team will continue to practice at Bloorview Rehabilitation Centre on Friday evenings and this Fall, a competitive team practice will be added on Wednesday evenings.
The Toronto Tornadoes were developed as part of ParaSport Ontario's Community Sport Development program. The Tornadoes plan to form a multi-sport club.

2010 SkiAbility Leadership Camp
Are you "ski-able"? Absolutely. Everyone is "ski-able." Thanks to extensive work done by a number of key individuals, water ski equipment and training is available for people of all abilities. Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada (WSWC) officially launched SkiAbility in June 2005. The program focuses on increasing participation in water skiing and other towed water sports for persons with a disability. Click here for more information |
