Participants are encouraged to use botanical product like greens, berries, dried grasses, etc. Submit a digital photo to MSHS by December 15. | Create a beautiful and fresh table centerpiece at your local garden center. |
Check out your local garden center for classes on how to decorate container pots or to create your own table arrangments or wreaths. Go beyond just spruce tops and dogwood stems.
Also take a trip down to the State Capitol to see the Christmas tree decorated by the Boys and Girls Club of the Twin Cities. Ornaments were handmade at camp following the theme of "Naturally Sweet" in association with the MN Apple Growers and the MN Beekeepers Associations. The kids made bead bees and ornaments out of apples.
Besides checking out the Capitol tree, there are two family activities offered during December at the Minnesota State Capitol: State Capitol Art Treasure Hunt and the State Capitol LegoŽ Model Display.
Participants can go on a self-guided scavenger hunt to discover 12 beautiful and important decorations in the State Capitol building. For the LegoŽ lover, visitors can get a close up look at a detailed model of the Minnesota State Capitol made entirely of LEGOŽ bricks.
