Congratulations to FNBSM for their many achievements this past month. They have received an award from the Arts and Business Council of Miami at their Annual Serving the Arts Luncheon.  They received the Shining Star Award for their contributions and support to the arts in Miami Dade County. This is primarily fueled by their efforts in the Wirtz Gallery. 
As you are aware, The Wirtz Gallery is a public art gallery featuring month-long exhibits by local, national, and international artists. It was opened in 1983 in memoriam to Arthur M. Wirtz, Bruce's grandfather and the past Chairman of the Board of the First National Bank of South Miami. In fact, they were the first community bank in the US to have a registered art gallery.
The mission of the Wirtz Gallery is to provide a professional setting for all levels of artists to display and sell their artwork, with no fee due to the gallery. It provides the public with the opportunity to enjoy art of all types of media.
In addition to their work through the Wirtz Gallery, the Council also recognized First National Bank of South Miami for being the presenting sponsor for both of the major (Chamber South and Rotary) Art Shows in South Miami and being the Premier Sponsor of the South Miami Manatee Fest, South Miami's first public art display.
FNBSM also received a Rotary recognition and recently two Chamber South Business Excellence awards.

The Informed Families South Miami Drug-Free Coalition works with businesses, healthcare, government, schools, law enforcement, parents, civic organizations, faith organizations, media and others to reduce alcohol and drug use in South Miami, particularly among youth.

Among other projects, they operate a student-run drinking prevention campaign at South Miami Senior High, conduct Project Sticker Shock in cooperation with the South Miami Police Explorers and area merchants to label bottles of alcohol with messages reminding adults not to provide to minors and work with community groups to educate parents, youth and others about the dangers of underage drinking and drug use.

Priya Nembhard is a proud member and Ambassador of Chamber South through The Early Development of Global Education (EDGE) Charitable Foundation, a non-profit organization serving 13,000 children in 9 countries through environmental education and social responsibility. This past April The EDGE won Chamber South's Business Excellence Award for Green Business of the year. She is also active in the Chamber's Non-profit Committee.
 
As a Founder of The Early Development of Global Education, LLC (EDGE), The Early Development of Global Education (EDGE) Charitable Foundation and The Little Blue Box, LLC she is very active in the community and involved with area schools. She has published the "I Dare You To Succeed" series with her husband, "The Cubic Theory" a social structure theory and various amounts of business articles for EntrepreneurRookie.com. Priya is a mentor for Take Stock in Children (Miami Dade County Public Schools), an advisor for Fashion for Charity and a proud mother of three children. She is an alumna of Syracuse University and New School University in New York.
