RECYCLE "Gently Used" Business Clothing to Help a Woman in Financial Crisis Land a Job

For financially disadvantaged women, the struggle to find a job to support themselves and their families is made more difficult without appropriate attire for an interview.

These women are not looking for a handout; but they do need a helping hand.

As you go through your closet at this change of seasons, please consider donating nearly-new and gently-used professional items that you no longer wear - clothes, shoes, purses & accessories - to the CALIFORNIA CONCIERGE SUIT DRIVE, going on through April 30.

Your clothing donation is tax-deductible and will be delivered by California Concierge directly to DRESS FOR SUCCESS, a non-profit charity.  They provide business attire to women for an interview and a 2nd outfit when they land the job.

For more information or to arrange for FREE donation pickup from your home or office in the L.A. area., please call us at 818-883-8550 or email info@calconcierge.com

Serving You Since 1999APRIL 2011
Greetings!

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

You're probably doing this on some level with things like paper, water and energy.  But, with Earth Day this month, we're sharing tips for greening your most precious, non-renewable resource: your TIME.

Oh, and we've also got helpful ideas about some of those other important things, too!

5 Tips to "GREEN" Your TIME

REDUCE Drive Time - Wasted driving messes up your day, adding to your stress.  And with gas prices so high, it really hurts your wallet, too.
  • Keep a List - For stores you frequent (think groceries, office supplies, personal items), keep a list...on the refrigerator is great.  When you're running low on an item or when you think of something you'll need soon, write it on the list.  Then, when there's enough to make a trip worthwhile, take the list to the store.  That way, you're not making trips to get just 1 or 2 items needed NOW.  Plus, with a list, you won't be driving back for forgotten items.
  • Bundle Errands - When you're making a trip anyway, think of what else you can do on your way to or from or while you're in the area.  Additionally, if you can, plan your route to maximize right turns and minimize time-zapping left turns.
REUSE Scheduled Time - Make good use of time you're going to spend anyway.
  • Double-up on the Purpose - Planning a business meet-up for coffee or lunch?  Make it near the bank, Post Office or somewhere else you need to go anyway so you won't have to make an extra trip. Spending time with a friend?  Combine it with other activities like exercising or shopping.  If you schedule a manicure with a friend, you can talk the whole time you're being worked on!
  • Think Birthday and Holiday Every Day - When you're in a store for something else, and the perfect gift catches your eye, get it now.  Don't wait until the special day...that would mean an extra trip, plus risking that the item won't be there or you'll forget where you saw it.
RECYCLE Wait-Time - Keep wait-time from becoming waste-time.
  •  Grab-and-Go - Before you head out to that meeting, the doctor, or even the Post Office, take something to do.  Turn wait-time into great-time by catching up on reading, writing a card or two, balancing your checkbook or doing anything that can easily be carried with you.

Green Ideas That Help NOW

REDUCE...

**Paper BEFORE It Gets in Your Mailbox by getting off "lists."  Register with the Direct Marketing Association's DMAchoice mail preference service (dmachoice.org), and you'll see a significant reduction in mail after about three months.  These include credit card offers, catalogs, magazine offers and other mail offers.

**Water Usage with FREE water-saving showerheads and faucet aerators from the Department of Water & Power.  You just need to pick them up from your local office.  California Concierge will be glad to get those for you and get them to you at NO CHARGE except for postage, if shipping is necessary.

REUSE...

**Mesh Produce Bags - Those mesh bags that onions, lemons and other produce come in make great scrubbers, safe for non-stick cookware. Just scrunch or tie in a knot to make a "ball."

RECYCLE...

**Electronics...but NOT in the bin!  TV's, cell phones, computers and other electronics need to be disposed of properly.  Check your zip code for local collection sites and events.  If you're in our service area, California Concierge will pick up your old electronics at NO CHARGE to take to the FREE e-waste drop-off hosted by the Woodland Hills-Tarzana Chamber of Commerce Saturday, April 23, 2011, 9AM-2PM at 20121 Ventura Boulevard, Woodland Hills, CA. Just contact us by April 20 to schedule!

We'd all like to do the right things, and sometimes being responsible for our environment does take time.  If time is what you're short on, let California Concierge help.  Whether it's running errands for you to reduce your time spent or recycling your electronics at the e-waste event, we're here for you.

Do what you love, and let California Concierge take care of the rest.

Sincerely,

Susan Hamersky
