A couple months ago, we had gift certificates for golf at the world-famous La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, CA, which we offered on a first come-first served basis to our clients and friends. Dave Ribble, of The Company Image/TCI Innovation, was the lucky (and quick!) winner. Afterward, he wrote such a wonderful note I just had to share it: 
"On behalf of my son, Joe, and myself, a big thank you to you for the opportunity to play golf at La Costa Resort. It was a picture-perfect morning... even the bullfrogs and birds welcomed us, it seemed.
We finished, but didn't want it to be over. Well, even though the cost for a guest to play there like we did costs $190 per person, we found out that if we wanted to go again, the cost would be a very small fee. So, we played, thanks to you, two rounds on the south course at La Costa, a championship course, for $39 each.
We had some moments of brilliance on the course, and other moments that might be considered noteworthy at best, but we're still grinning.

How you spend your time will be determined by your priorities, not your availability.
If you feel your life has gotten "off balance," that you never seem to have time for what's important to you, start the following 3-Step Program ASAP:
1. Look at time as a gift to cherish. Our time is limited. God willing, we are given 24 hours a day - that's about 730 hours a month, and almost 8766 hours a year. Subtract the time needed for sleep, work, commuting, everyday household tasks, etc., and you're left with a very small amount. How do you really want to spend your time?
2. Write down the activities that are important to you. Is it date-nights with your sweetie? Family fun? Time with friends? Exercise? Planning that vacation? Giving back to your community?
3. Set an appointment with yourself. I mean physically put it down on your calendar. If a request of your time comes up for that appointed time, simply say, "I'm sorry, that's not going to work for me."
 Remember, if it's important to you, don't wait until you have time...you never will. Do it anyway! |
