Sukkot Shabbat Details
Friday, Sept 24, 7pm
Note time of 7pm

If you need directions to  the Ries Ranch where our Shabbat service and dinner will be held, please follow these.  The Google and other maps are not correct, so we are not providing the street address.  Follow these to get there:

From Reno take Hwy 395 South to Mt. Rose Hwy toward Tahoe.  About 4 miles, look for Timberline Drive, turn right.

Drive on Timberline where the paved road will end and there is an entrance to Thomas Creek Park. Just before the park entrance is a dirt road to the right.  It's not named, there will be a "Sukkah" sign posted there.  Turn right.

1 mile down on the BUMPY dirt road, look for another Sukkah sign on the left.  The second sign will be directly across from the huge tan house with the brown roof.  Turn left, down the driveway.  There are 2 homes there.  Barbara and Steve's house is the gray one on the right.  Look for the amazing sukkah.

Come shake a lulav with us!

Yom Kippur Services
Sept. 17-18, 2010

Services were inspiring, wonderful and well attended.  In our group aliyot, many people had the opportunity to come up to Torah. and get a blessing for the New Year.

Rabbi Beyer's High Holiday sermon theme was Jewish paths to G-d.  On Erev YK, the drash was about "Prayer." During the morning service, there was an opportunity to experience "Text Study" as a Jewish path to G-d.  We continued learning in the afternoon with text study and meditation.

Thanks to Barbara Malinas for helping us  meditate before N'eilah.

Many thanks to our most  wonderful musicians:   Barbara Ries (a moving solo "Dust in the Wind") and guitar, Ken Goldman - guitar; Barbara Meyer - guitar, recorder and tambourine, Diane - drum, Susan Lisagore - medieval recorder and Ginger  Fenwick - harp.  Thanks Sheldon Chanes for singing a wonderful verse of Kol Nidre and Alan Kass for singing a warm Tefillat HaDerech.

Break-the-fast was awesome!   The menu included mountains of lox, herring, pipping hot, lovely vegetarian dishes and pomegranate seeds with ice cream,  grilled figs, and special Jewish star cake.  The cooks were terrific.

Thanks to Diane Black for the lovely flowers, to Nicole and Gwynn for greeting and also to all our musicians again for so much work preparing and then playing for our services.  Special thanks to Rita and Michelle Horton and Rita Lynch of UNR for solving our parking challenge for the Kol Nidre service (since there was a WolfPak game that night).

Thanks to all who helped out in any way (also to Randee and Danielle who prepared apples and honey for RH).
We couldn't do it without your help.

Again, a huge thank you to Nurit Mermin for weaving on a loom 613 white threads as material accented by 36 crystals for our new High Holy Day Torah cover.

Click HERE to see our Erev YK/Kol Nidre Evening Service.   For Kol Nidre, see about 13 minutes in.  First 2 minutes at the beginning of the live recording has a shrill sound so just move the cursor to later in the service.  We are getting better at this technology stuff (i.e. sound, camera, etc.).  Archive of videos can be found at http://www.Ustream.com then search for  TempleBethOrReno (one word all together) to see recorded videos.

If you can't make it to services, but are interested in being a part, tune in to Ustream at TempleBethOrReno (one word).  We are working towards streaming our High Holiday services live.  Bear with us as we have yet to perfect this new technology.  We are still working on the the sound system to make it better.
