שלום שלום שלום
Shalom Holy Chevre (Holy Group),
At the beginning of December, we met at the Joe (UNR's Student Union) for our first Friday evening of the month Shabbat. Many thanks to our bass player Corina and guitarist Barbara Ries. A few minutes prior to service we had the extraordinary good fortune to also have Barbara (the music teacher) and Susan Lisagore join us lending a second guitar and recorder to the ensemble. What a musical mechaye (Yiddish for wonderful or pleasant)! After the Torah reading, we talked about Jacob and his struggle with the angel - and yes, sometimes the drash (sermon) is interactive.
Hillel Lights Shabbat Candles
December 4, 2009
Hillel co-presidents Jackie and Danielle will attend Hazon, a Jewish conference in the Bay Area on ethical eating, over winter break.
Rabbi ElizaBeth will be a rabbi for a Chanukah cruise onboard Holland America. She and her hubbitzin will be heading to Mexico. Nisiah Tovah (to a good trip).
May we go from strength to strength!
j101 class will be meeting on Monday Dec. 28th at 6:30pm.
Thinking about a New Year's resolution? Make a commitment to Jewish learning. Start the secular New Year out with Shabbat! Please join us Friday evening Jan. 1, 2010, for our next Shabbat services and dinner. Music is an integral part of our service and your participation is key. We invite you to help with the service in whatever way you feel comfortable. English reading? Hebrew song? Poetry contribution? Let us know!
Services are accessible and informal. Come and learn - or come for dinner - or both!
No meat, no chicken. If you have questions about our kashrut policies, or wonder what to bring, call the Rabbi. Dairy/fish/eggs/vegetarian ok.
WWWe certainly welcome your donations. Most importantly, we welcome you to join us. May all good things come to you and your family.
