שלום שלום שלום שלום שלום
Shalom Chevre, At the last monthly gathering, Reb Richard did a great job on the clarinet with a special Modzitzer Rebbe's niggun (wordless melody).
At the ufruf (calling up to the Torah on the Shabbat prior to their marriage) the community blessed Stephen and Barbara Ries, showering them with blessings and candy. They were married in Idlewild Park's California Building beneath a beautiful chuppah hand made by Stephen and decorated with the Hebrew words, "I am my Beloved's and my Beloved is mine."
Ries Wedding
A huge thank you to them for donating their chuppah. It will be used again for 2 more couples who will wed this summer! What a mitzvah!
SHABBAT IN ELKO: May 15-16 Shabbat included a mezzah blessing for the the Pogoda-Scott home near Southfork and Shacharit services there also. If you are planning a trip to Elko, the JCEC (Jewish Community of Elko County) is a thriving Jewish group bamidbar (in the desert). See their website:

SHABBAT SERVICES THIS WEEK:
Friday evening June 5 at 6pm, we have Shabbat services and dinner. Music is an integral part of our service.
We'll have a short Torah discussion. If you wish to read ahead, the Parshot are Number 4:21 - 7:89.
Services are accessible and informal. Come and learn - or come for dinner - or both! No meat. Dairy/fish/eggs/vegetarian are ok.
ON THE HORIZON:
Initially, Beth-Or was one of the synagogues in Reno in the 1940's. That name will be honored with the change in Ma'ayanot (an informal group) to a new group designed to be a learning, growing chevre.
Too often Jews do not attend shul, or accept honors because they do not feel comfortable. Beth-Or: A Learning Congregation will endeavor to remedy that problem by creating a welcoming, accessible environment where everyone, including the rabbi and those in leadership, are "learning." We learn by doing and creating. We learn from each other. We learn by asking questions - and struggling with "the best" answer. We learn in together in community. Come be a part of a new Jewish community. Our website will be up soon.
May all good things come to you and your family.
