Welcome, 2010-2011 Board of Directors!

By Marcel Neumann, President Marcel Neumann 2010

Please join me in extending a warm welcome to CALDA's newly elected and re-elected board of directors for the 2010-2011 term.

As your president, I am proud to be at the helm of this great organization, and even more so to be in the company of one of the most dedicated and talented group of board members who are as excited as I am to bring new and better ideas to raising consumer awareness of the invaluable services of Legal Document Assistants.

We have a lot of work ahead of us, including making sure that we closely monitor and take necessary action in any legislation that would affect our profession. But, I am confident that with our new board, along with the enthusiasm and talents of our members, we will make 2010 the "Year of the Legal Document Assistant!"

CALDA attends historic D.C. meeting with C.L.E.A.R.

CALDA board members Angie Walters, Carol Ludlow, Carl Knoll and CALDA legal counsel, Richard Lubetzky, attended a historic meeting in Washington D.C. last October 15-16, 2009 organized by CLEAR (Center for Legal Empowerment, Accountability and Reform). Formerly known as HALT (Help Abolish Legal Tyranny) CLEAR is a 30-year old nonpartisan public interest group, and is the nation's largest legal reform organization with more than 30,000 members.

The meeting included CALDA and other members of the alternative bar, and discussed ways to support LDAs and other alternative legal services providers, raise awareness of the legal document provider profession, serve consumers better, and establish state legislative priorities.
