Varsity Volleyball Coach--Larry Cathcart
The varsity volleyball team is very young this year, with only 1 senior and 2 players returning from last season. The team has worked hard to get better, especially on defense and serving. A lot of progress has already been made. The season opened with a 3-0 victory at MPH. Sue Santucci led the way with 2 kills and 10 aces and Lexi Syrrell had 4 kills and 5 aces. The team placed second at a preseason tournament at Bishop Grimes, coming in first in pool play but losing the championship match.
Currently their team record is 3-3, with wins over MPH, Onondaga and Fabius Pompey. Losses were to Tully, LaFayette and Druyter.

|
Modified VolleyballCoach--Tim Murphy The girls modified volleyball teams are enjoying a good season thus far. As of this writing, the 7th grade team has won 3 matches and lost 3 matches, while the 8th grade team has won 4 and lost 2. More importantly, we are learning the fundamentals of the game, having lots of fun, and intending to honor God with our play and attitudes. Go Saints!

The Results are In! PLAN Test:Miss Morrison met with the 10th grade class on December 1st to give students their results on the PLAN Test. The test was given on October 26. Miss Morrison explained how to read the score report so that the students would know how to use the information given. In addition to the students' scores, the report also gives information that will help them in their academic planning for the remainder of their high school program. Each student received the booklet "Using your PLAN Test Results." Parents are encouraged to review the results and the booklet with their son/daughter. PSAT/NMSQT:Miss Morrison met with all of the juniors and the sophomores who took the PSAT test. The students received their score reports, their test booklets and information on how to log in to My College QuickStart. The information in My College QuickStart will assist students as they search for colleges, and explore majors and careers. My College QuickStart also provides a personalized SAT study plan, and a personality test for students who desire to take it. There is also information provided about scholarship programs. Parents can review the score report with their teen and encourage him/her to log on to My College QuickStart.
Miss Morrison would be happy to meet with any parent and/or student to discuss the students' results on either the PLAN or PSAT test. If you would like to meet with her, please call the Guidance Office to schedule an appointment. Grade 11 Parents' MeetingAn informational meeting for parents of Juniors will be held on Thursday, January 13 at 7PM in room 212. We will be talking about the "next step" for juniors as they consider college and careers. We will also give information on accessing My College QuickStart. French Club Starts January 10th!
Learn a new language in a fun and relaxing way! The after school French Club, lead by Veronique Bennett, is an enjoyable time of baking French desserts (and eating them), making crafts, singing and playing games... all while learning the important language of French. Currently, there are over 225 million people in the world that speak French as their first language. This number is growing. French is the primary language of 22 countries in Africa, and is the diplomatic international language. Come join the after school French Club, and begin to learn while having fun! The club will run on Monday afternoons, starting January 10th through April 11th. The club costs $20 per session, for a total club cost of $220. This can be paid up front, or in four monthly installments of $55. Click here for more information, and the registration form.

Mrs. Werner's class blesses Refugees this Christmas:
Rather than do a gift exchange among themselves this Christmas, the 5th/6th combination class voted to support a refugee family through Mrs. Werner's church, Eastern Hills. The class had been learning about refugees, and even recently prepared a chapel service about it. Each student brought in at least $5 to assist a selected refugee family. The class is mailing the money, along with a card and class picture to the family. The selected family consists of 4 young adults ranging in age from 18-22 (3 females and 1 male) and their mom, who is 45. They are from Iraq and their father was killed in the conflict over there. A woman from Mrs. Werner's church is tutoring them in English each week. Please pray for this family to truly sense the Savior's love this Christmas.

Thank You, Mrs. LaCourse!
It is with sadness and deep appreciation that we say goodbye to a true servant of the Lord.
Mrs. Kathy LaCourse joined Faith Heritage School in July of 1988 as our Elementary Principal. She has served our students and this school faithfully in that role for 23 school years. Kathy has guided and encouraged hundreds of students, and many teachers, leaving a legacy of love and excellence that will endure for years to come.
Faith Heritage is indebted to Kathy. We are better because of her talents, expertise and most importantly, her love for God. Please join us in prayers of thanksgiving for Kathy's service.
Thank you, Mrs. LaCourse...we will miss you!
_____________
As we proceed at Faith Heritage School, Miss Sandra Morrison is now School Principal (pre-k through 12th grade). Under Sandy's direction are Department Chairs in the High School, and lead teachers in the Elementary. We are excited to announce that Cindy Allen, our Kindergarten teacher, has agreed to serve as one of the elementary lead teachers. Cindy has served Faith Heritage well for 18 years. Cindy has a true passion for teaching and will serve our school well in her new role as lead teacher. Please continue to pray for our school as we go through this leadership transition. To God be the Glory!

Investing In Our Students... Today and for their Future!
For 39 years, the Lord has provided for Faith Heritage School through the generosity of faithful saints who believe in our mission. Tuition only covers about 75% of our operating expenses. The rest of our expenses are covered by fundraising events and gifts from individuals and businesses. This Annual Fund campaign is essential to help pay our teachers, cover utilities, and provide classroom supplies.
Our fundraising goal for the 2010/11 school year is $400,000. Currently, only about 25% of that goal has been contributed. We know that this year has offered financial challenges to many of our families and our contributors. Even so, we trust in the Lord's provision. If you have been so blessed, we ask that you prayerfully consider a gift to help us continue to provide a strong Christian education to students in our community.
We can now accept secure, online contributions using your credit/debit card. If you wish to contribute in this manor, please click the link below to go to the Support FHS page of our website.
This is the Lord's school, and we are confident in His provision. To God be the glory! |
