May Newsletter
Greetings!

Welcome to our May Newsletter, packed full of our latest developments, forthcoming events and offers.

First of all, we would like to welcome on board our new Head Chef, Ryan Waddell.

Ryan replaces Greg Tyler, who after just over two years loyal service has decided to fulfill his dreams and emigrate to Australia. We wish him well and much happiness in his life down under.

Ryan was born and raised in Peebles in the Scottish Borders on his parents sheep farm. His mother worked in the local Peebles Hotel and was the reason for his introduction into the catering profession.

Following his degree in Business Studies, Ryan worked his way through the chef rankings to become Sous Chef at one of the UK's top restaurants, the former Room Restaurant at One Devonshire Gardens in Glasgow. Room had superseded Gordon Ramsey's Amaryllis. (The Hotel has since been purchased by Malmaison Luxury Hotels which include all Hotel du Vin).

After two years with Room in Glasgow, the directors of Room Restaurants took Ryan south to take up the position of Junior Sous at The Hoxton Grill where Ryan progressed to the role of Senior Sous Chef. Then 18 months ago, The Hoxton Grill was acquired by the Soho House Group and promoted Ryan to Head Chef.

Now, we are delighted that he has jumped at the opportunity to join the Canbury Arms team, to contribute to the continued success and development of our business.

We are making significant investment in new Kitchen equipment that will help us to develop new ideas.

Ryan's first new menu will go live on Friday 14th May. Wherever possible he will use fresh British seasonal produce and is looking forward to baking his own breads, making homemade ice cream, jams, marmalade, chutneys, pickles and piccalilli.

As always, we look forward to your feedback and if you fill out one of our feedback forms when you visit, you will be entered into our monthly draw to win a two course dinner for two and a bottle of house wine. (April's winner below)

Also we remain committed to providing the finest quality food, wines and beers and the very best value for money, hospitality experience in Kingston.

Over the past 18 months through very difficult times, we have absorbed many product price rises, duty and inflationary rises. We have also absorbed rises in energy costs, rises in rates and other operational costs.
We will continue to do this as long as is feasibly possible hoping to ensure great quality and unbeatable value for money for you.

In addition, further great value is always available on Monday evenings with our wines sold at our retail prices or two steaks and a bottle of house wine for £30 every Wednesday is hugely popular.
Members of our Canbury Loyalty Club also benefit from having 10% of every purchase credited to their loyalty card to offset against any subsequent purchase.

We have packed so much in to this Newsletter and if you read on below, there is lots of information on our foods of the world and drink pairings, our £5 express lunch and early bird supper menu, our new May menu, forthcoming wine tastings, special offers, inter schools quiz, the 21&Co. charity quiz, The FIFA World Cup 2010, Dragon Boat Race 2010 and the winner of April's feedback form draw.

I hope you enjoy your read.

Cheers!!

Michael & Toby
