News Update September 2009
Greetings!
 
Further to our August/September newsletter, we have some additional items that may be of interest.
 
This Sunday, 27th September 2009 at 7.30pm we are delighted to welcome back The Rhythmix.
Having completed their exams, Kingston Grammar School pupil's Julius Goddard (Piano) and Oliver Woodings (Drums) will be providing us with some great Jazz to round off the weekend.
So please come on down and give them some support!
 
Whilst on the subject of music, Tuesday 6th October will be the next Irish night. We have 35 people booked already, so to avoid disappointment please call and make your reservation as soon as possible.
 
Owing to popular demand, we are starting our curry night again, every Tuesday from 29th September. We will be offering a different curry every week which may be Thai, Indian etc. for just £8 (booking advisable)
 
Our Christmas menu is now available and I will be delighted to email a copy to you. Just e-mail your request to michael@thecanburyarms.com or call 0208 255 9129. Aswell as our 2 or 3 course Christmas Menu, I will be happy to discuss buffet options, drinks and nibbles parties and create a truly bespoke event for you.
We are having problems with our website currently and finding it difficult to display current menus and offers so please contact us directly for any information you need.
 
On Saturday 7th November, we are hosting a Christmas Market again. This is being organised by Juliette Pritchard and she is keen for anyone at this stage, interested in having a stall, to contact her directly on 07879 617473 or email  handjpritchard@tiscali.co.uk 
 
More details will follow regarding our Christmas and New Year program, it will certainly include carols, mince pies, christmas stories by the fire, eating, drinking and merry making! - Just to give you a heads up though, we will be closing at 6pm on December 24th and reopening at 12pm on December 27th.
 
The next Interschools quiz will be on Wednesday 25th November. Any schools that are not currently involved, now is your chance!! Please email me if you would like to participate in the next quiz michael@thecanburyarms.com

The next quiz will be on Wednesday 25th November 2009 at 8.00pm for 8.30pm. Quizmasters for the evening will be Alexandra
 
The evening will commence with a trophy presentation to St Luke's School as winners of the 2008/2009 season.
 
Following the presentation, the quiz will start under a brand new format with a new league table...
 
1. Current schools involved are St Luke's, St Agatha's, St John's, Fern Hill, Latchmere, Alexandra, King Athelstan however if your school is not involved and you want to be please contact michael@thecanburyarms.com.
 
2. There is space for 11 teams of 8 only on a first come first served basis. Schools may enter two teams if they wish. Please let me know the name of your school and the number of teams you are entering as soon as possible.
 
3. The cost to each player remains £5 with 100% of the money making up the prize fund.
 
4. The prize money from now on will be split and presented to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places as opposed to the previous winner takes all format. Where there is a pot of £400, 1st will take £250.00 2nd £100 and 3rd £50. All runner up teams will be presented with a £20 Canbury Arms Voucher so no one goes away empty handed!
All prizes are for the benefit of your school PFA/PSA to improve facilities for your children.
 
5. Points will be awarded to all teams according to where they finish. 10 for a win 9 for second place 8 for third 7 for 4th etc. The school with the highest score at the end of the series will take the title of brainiest parents in Kingston!
 
6. We are introducing a handicap system. The winners of each quiz will commence the next quiz on minus 2 points. This is with immediate effect and so St Luke's start the new series on minus 2 points.
 
I will be delighted to answer any questions you may have or suggestions you would like to make.
