Newsletter September 2009
Greetings!

Welcome to our September Newsletter!

We hope everyone has had a good summer despite the very unpredictable weather and let's hope that the current dry spell continues for some time to come.

Towards the end of July, we entered two teams in the Kingston Rotary Club Dragon Boat Challenge. I am delighted to say that our girls team retain their All- Woman Crew Trophy by finishing as the fastest womens crew but significantly, they finished a very respectable 13th overall out of 37 crews. The boys also performed very well and  finished in the top three again with less than a second separating the first three crews.
I would like to thank and congratulate everyone who took part and for all those who supported us and our fund raising efforts. Our total fundraising since our first race last year stands at £1267.80 with a further £329.38 Gift Aid. This is on top of the crew entry fees. So well done and thank you!

We have had further success this summer too. Having been shortlisted for The Great British Pub Awards 2009 in the Best Leasehold/Tenanted Catergory we went on to win the catergory and represent the whole of the London Region. The finals were held at The London Hilton on September 9th and we were up against six other regional finalists and finished runners up to The True Lovers Knot in Dorset. Our congratulations go to them but we were very pleased to have got as far as we did.
It often said on my school reports " Must try harder"! So we will!

Coming up this week ( Wednesday 16th September )  is the first round of the new look Inter Schools Quiz tournament. St. Agatha's are setting the questions and full details of the format are outlined below.

Our September menu is now in full swing and so far has been very well received. The Pea, Bean and Blue Cheese Risotto, Sea Bass Paella and Chicken Breast with Dauphinoise Potatoes are particular hits as is the Lamb and Rosemary Pie and the return of The Canbury Chic Pea and Goats Cheese Burger!

I was hoping to avoid mentioning Christmas with Summer barely over but we have been inundated with inquiries already! Our menus will be completed shortly and this year in addition to our 2 or 3 course Christmas Menu with all the seasonal trimmings we are introducing a sharing platter menu priced at a very affordable £15.00 (£7.50 per person). It will be perfect for those "schools out" or office drinks and nibbles parties.
Alternatively at £10 per person we will be offering our 1 course party buffet options (mimimum 20 people). for example, Chilli con Carne, Guacamole, Salsa, Sour Cream, Rice and Garlic Bread or Thai Green Chicken Curry with Coconut Rice, Coq au Vin, Beef Bourgignonne with Dauphinoise and much more. We will add a dessert course for an additional £5.
For booking enquiries or to discuss your specific requirements for a truly bespoke party please call me, Michael on 0208 255 9129 or email michael@thecanburyarms.com
