HOW ARE WE DOING?
Newsletter June 2009
Greetings!

It's our birthday! - Four years ago today, following a major refurbishment, we re-opened the doors to The Canbury Arms and we have decided to mark the occassion by launching a Kingston wide amateur photography competition.
You can read more details about the competition, later in this Newsletter!

Also, as we enter our 5th year, we are offering every reader a £5 voucher  valid from today 5th June 2009 to Thursday 25th June 2009. So there's a good reason to come and try the fantastic new seasonal dishes on our New June Menu
(Scroll to the bottom for the voucher and full details)

We are very excited about the very first Canbury Festival which kicks off tonight 5th June through until Sunday 7th June. Some events are already SOLD OUT but there are some tickets remaining for others, so call 05602 359 066 or visit Canbury Festival

And finally...
During May, we attended the Rose Theatre, hosts of the 2009 Kingston Business Champions Awards. I am delighted to say that we won BEST HOSPITALITY VENUE and were also runners up for the main award, BEST COMMITMENT TO THE COMMUNITY, losing out to John Lewis.

Whilst we are all delighted that our efforts have been recognised in this way, we will continue in our endeavours to improve and try to make everyone's visit to the Canbury a great experience.

To help us with this, I would be extremely grateful if you could take a moment or two to provide me with any feedback that could help improve the products and service we provide.
I am really keen to understand what you feel we do right, what we can do better and if anything you consider is wrong altogether. Be as kind or as brutal as you like as long as it's constuctive!
If you think all is well, then a testimonial we may use would be great.

You can email me michael@thecanburyarms.com or write to me, Michael Pearson, The Canbury Arms, 49 Canbury Park Road, Kingston, KT2 6LQ.
On all correspondence, please include your full name and postal address as all comments received before June 30th 2009,  you will receive a £10 Canbury Arms Voucher.

Thank you for your help and continued support and look forward to seeing you soon.

Enjoy the rest of the items below.

Cheers!

Michael

PS.

Please note that on Saturday 20th June, we have a function occupying the whole pub and will not be able to accommodate anymore customers. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, we are open as usual either side of this date.

"KINGSTON NOTICED" - AMATEUR PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

The competition will be an annual event with the 40 winning entries replacing the Canbury's current "Cuba Noticed" exhibition by BAFTA award winning and OSCAR nominated cinematographer Richard Greatrex (for whom we are eternally grateful) and thereafter refreshed each year.

This years theme will be "Kingston Noticed". The idea is to capture daily life and atmosphere, in the parks, on the river, in your local, sport, around the town, architecture etc.

There are two categories, under 14's  and 14 and over
There will be 3 outright winners from each catergory plus 34  commended entries making a total of 40 displays in the exhibition.

The 14 and over prize money will be 1st - £200, 2nd £100, 3rd £50)
The 14 and under prize money will be 1st - £100, 2nd £50, 3rd £25)
In addition, all 40 images will be available for sale. Sale proceeds will be split 50:50 with the owner of the work and the Shooting Star Childrens Hospice ( Our chosen charity).

12 out of the 40 images will also be selected for a 2010 calendar which will also be on sale with all proceeds going to The Shooting Star Childrens Hospice.

The competition is open for entries immediately and right up until Sunday 20th September 2009.
Entries will be judged by an independent panel of Photography Experts including Richard Greatrex. The 40 chosen will be displayed and all winners will be invited to the launch evening in October 2009.

The entry fee will be £5 for 3 submissions per person and all entries must be presented on A3 Print.

Further and more detailed information including terms and conditions and entry form will be forwarded to you seperately from this Newsletter and will be made available on our website and in the  local press.

However, in the meantime, get snapping - or maybe you have already snapped the winner!
