Christmas Greetings 2009!

  Barraclough Family Picture

Volume 3, Number 5 December 24, 2009
Dear Friends,
How good the Lord has been to all of us!  Merry Christmas to you.  We pray your Christmas is marked with His Peace and Presence.
Our first mail package arrived from the States just today, complete with letters and cards.  When we saw the mailman at our door, our first thought was, "Lord, you are so thoughtful to let our mail arrive on Christmas Eve."  We enjoyed the many notes of encouragement and seasons greetings.
Another surprise came when a Christian family here in Lima knocked on our door.  When we opened the door, they delivered a box containing wrapped presents for each of the children.  The Lord knows how to make our day special!
Many of you sent special Christmas offerings for which we are so grateful.  Thank you for thinking of us!

Also, the immigration office has notified us that Judith's and my visa should be available by December 31st, 2009.  So, it appears that we will officially receive our residency by the end of the year, if not the very last day of the year.  Thanks for your prayers regarding this.  We plan to submit for the children's residency the following week.

Our latest printed newsletter should have already arrived at your door within the last few days.  If you are not subscribed to our printed newsletter, write us an email, or you can subscribe through the link below.
Below, we've included some special family news.  Things have been exciting around here in more ways than one!
With love and appreciation for each of you,
Joe, Judith, Nadia, Isaac, Jennifer, Caleb & Rebecca
Madre_de_Dios_Jungle Caleb Rebounding
Perhaps instead of "rebounding" I should say "bouncing off the walls".  Caleb is doing very well, but he went through several weeks of misery.
As you already know, Caleb's appendix ruptured on December 3rd, and he had surgery to remove his appendix on the morning of December 5th.  The surgery went well, but his recovery was marked with fever and infection.  He spent about five days with fever and vomiting.  Because of the swelling in his incision, we took him back to the doctor where she opened the incision and drained it. Ouch!
After all of this he came down with measles!  Now, he is fully recovered from measles and well on his way mending from the surgery.  So now our greatest challenge is getting him to follow doctor's orders to take it easy.  He is still longing to eat pizza, and now he has added fried chicken and chocolate to the wish list.
Thank you for your prayers for this brave little soldier!
