One of the great aspects of the 2020 Group is the networking and collaboration between firms and members. Recently, Claude Gauthier of  Blain, Joyal Charbonneau LLP in Sainte Julie, PQ just outside Montreal called us to say he had a project in Ontario he needed local help with. London UK Bound?

Chris Frederiksen recently received this letter from 2020 UK member and good friend, Mark Levy.  He asked me to forward it to our Canadian members.  If you, your staff or your clients are ever in London and need some office space to check emails, send and receive faxes or even meet with clients, please give Mark a call.  His firm is centrally located in London's West End and they would be delighted to help you and your clients in any way they can. Fall Leaves sm

September has flown by with our conference in Niagara Falls and our events in Vancouver. The conference was widely enjoyed with many attendees heading back to their offices on Monday ready to make changes in the firms in order to make the change from Good to Great.

One important announcement from the conference is that we will be implementing a Focus Group in the GTA in January. The Focus Group, led by Chris Frederiksen, brings together progressive accounting firms to share ideas, discuss issues and develop strategies. We are also looking to organize a similar group on the West Coast. Details on the date and location will follow.

The 2020 Canada Webinar series is in full swing with 13 webinars scheduled in  October alone.

Our Leadership piece is an offer to evaluate your leadership style and assess how it impacts your firm, its culture and its growth. It really is an interesting assessment that everyone should take - it's Free, with an option to participate in a full day follow-up.
Leadership -
Leadership & You
Dr. Glenn Marshall - Insight Leader

As you know Dr. Glenn Marshall has agreed to hold a one day  "Leadership and You" workshop -  taking a hard look at your leadership style and its impact on others in your organization.

Many of you enjoyed Glenn's dynamic presentation at the conference in Niagara Falls which for most of us, was short lived.   This is an opportunity to sit in on an executive MBA style presentation from one of Canada's most exciting adult educators.

As a compliment to the 2020 Association Glenn has made available  INSIGHT SELF Report.   This 35-50 page report is used at major Executive Development programs world-wide for leadership training and executive development and coaching.

The session will be very interactive, starting with the pre-requisite of taking the INSIGHT SELF REPORT on line prior to the session. The full day session will deal with the following areas of interest to you.
  • Understanding HELPFUL,  FEARFUL and FORCEFUL styles and their impact on the organization
  • How leadership style impacts work culture
  • Team Leadership - assets and Liabilities
  • The link between personal style and stress
  • Leadership, Power and Influence in your organization (including your client organizations)
  • Developing a Prescription for personal change.
  • Personal style interpretation.
Understanding your SELF rating ...Can you believe how you rate yourself?

Wall and Associates have graciously offered their boardroom for this presentation:
Monday, October 19
9:00am to 4:00pm
Wall & Associates
34 Huntley St.
Toronto, ON

Glenn has agreed to keep the assessments process open until one day before the workshop begins.   Simply go to: http://www.insightleader.com and "create a new account".  (Your cohort ID is 1865684.)  The  Follow the instructions on the screen and take the SELF survey.   If you have any issues or problems with this contact Glenn directly, his email is: gmarshall@me.com . In advance of the session you will be sent a PDF report on your style that should be read and highlighted before the session.   It is important that you print a copy of this document  preferably IN COLOUR and hand-carry it to the workshop session as it will serve as a working document for the day.

We hope to see you at this important executive development event. Costs will be shared equally by the attendees, approx. $250 or less. In order to start the process of enrolling for the session, complete the survey at your earliest convenience.

Restauranteur Returning

A Chef acquaintance is returning from Europe and is looking to set up a new venture in the GTA. He is looking to find an accounting firm with relevant experience in the restaurant field. Contact Peggy for details.
I first of all want to thank all the participants of our Fall Conference.  The feed back that Richard and I have received regarding the presenters, the sponsors, the attendees and the content of the conference has been overwhelming.  It is an affirmation that we are providing a service that Professional Accountants in Canada want and need.

Congratulations are in order to Todd and Carrie Jones of Port Williams, NS for being the recipient of the first, annual Marketing award for their "Accountants Who Care" initiative and their work with small businesses in NS. A second award went out to Fred Slade, Sudbury,  as the only individual to have attended all five 2020 Canada conferences.  The final award was presented to Bruce Martin and his team for coming from the farthest distance-Kamloops, BC.

Allan Stevenson, Hamilton, won the grand door prize of two Samsung, 23",  USB monitors.

Mark your calendars now for next year's conference "Nudge", Sept. 17-18. If your enjoyed the conference and what we do, please let your colleagues and industry associates know about us. As Chris always says "Business is great and we can always use more!"

As always, if you have any questions or comments, please contact me at peggy.tyers@2020canada.ca .
