Jimmie Johnson Foundation October 2010 |
Annual Golf Tournament Raises More Than $525,000
The 2010 Jimmie Johnson Foundation Golf Tournament and Dinner raised more than $525,000, the fourth-consecutive year that the half-million dollar mark has been surpassed. The tournament proceeds will stay in the San Diego area to fund the Jimmie Johnson Foundation/Lowe's Toolbox for Education Champions Grants, which range from $25,000-$100,000 and will be awarded in December.
The dinner and live auction were held on Tuesday, October 5th. Emerald Middle School students, J.T. and Maui (pictured above), shared highlights from their STEM Lab project funded by a 2009 Champions Grant.
NASCAR drivers Kevin Harvick, Brian Vickers, Juan Pablo Montoya, Boris Said and Casey Mears, along with former NFL player Jason Sehorn and IRL driver Oriol Servia, joined more than 150 guests for Wednesday's golf tournament at The Grand Del Mar in San Diego.
Many thanks to our sponsors, guests and volunteers who made the event a success. Click here to view photos from the event. |

Cookies For Kids' Cancer Wins Additional $20,000 in Samsung Helmet of Hope For More
Cookies for Kids' Cancer became the deserving winner of an additional $20,000 grant after earning the most votes in the Samsung Helmet of Hope for More campaign. Jimmie then surprised second-place finishing Gwendolyn Strong Foundation by announcing that it would also receive a $20,000 grant, a decision made after Jimmie and Chandra received an email exchange between the top two charities. "We were part of an amazing email exchange between Cookies for Kids' Cancer and the Gwendolyn Strong Foundation that took place after the voting contest ended. On their own, they decided that regardless of which charity won, they would split the $20,000 grant. When we saw what a selfless decision that was and the sacrifice that each was willing to make, we really wanted to step up and do what we could to help each of these amazing organizations," added Johnson. All-Star Club Foundation Fest Held Last Week
All-Star Club members from across the country joined Jimmie and the foundation staff at the inaugural Foundation Fest last week. Foundation Fest gave All-Star Club members the chance to meet fellow supporters of the foundation. Jimmie answered questions, signed autographs and took photos with each guest. Lowe's No. 48 Spotter, Earl Barban, even made a guest appearance. Special thanks to our friends at Bojangles and Blue Bunny for providing lunch and ice cream treats.
Details for the 2011 All-Star Club will be announced early next year. Click here to view photos from Foundation Fest. |
