If you are a graduate of one of the IITs and wish to network with other IIT Alumni, you should register on linkedin.com, fill out a complete profile including your specific IIT degree and then click to apply for membership to the LinkedIn Group for IIT Alumni. Benefits to using this service are described here. We have 8,545 members as of November 2008, making us the largest university alumni groups on this service. The LinkedIn Group for IIT Alumni, is meant only for those who are graduates
of one of the seven IITs or those who are current or former faculty
members at these seven IITs.

Indian-American Task Force in Response to Mumbai Attack
|
Mukesh Advani is
co-coordinator of thetask force of Indian American organizations and individuals and has to
come up with the Indian community's response to Mumbai terror
attacks. The Task Force is inviting Indian American community to
join in the Lobby Day at Washington DC on January 27, 2009, where they
will meet with key Congress and Obama
administration members.

Writers' Forum was successfully launched
during PanIIT Global Conference at Chennai.

IIT Roorkee (1968), current President of RANA (Roorkee Alumni North America)
initiated the forum. Writers' Forum is a platform, for IITan authors and budding / aspiring

IIT Alumnus Supports Chandrayaan Launch

NASA and ISRO joint effort on Lunar Mission
Humans
are fascinated by the Moon and the lunar cycle since the ancient times and now
India's Chandrayaan has entered lunar orbit to explore the Moon!
IIT Kharagpur alumnus and a Project System Engineer since 2004 at
JPL in Pasadena, California, Alok,
Chatterjee, was there all the way to
support Moon Mineralogy
Mapper launch activities and mission operations till the spacecraft reached the
operational orbit and the M3 was turned on.
When asked about integration of American instrument
into an Indian system, Alok said, "The
integration of the M3 instrument to the Chandrayaan-1 mission was certainly not
easy. This was the first time that NASA was seriously involved with ISRO by way
of contributing two instruments on this ISRO mission."

| IIT Alumnus in running for first U.S. Chief Technology Officer |
Obama Administration to include an U.S. C.T.O.
Two Indian-born technology executives are the leading candidates for the incoming Obama Administration's newly created position of federal chief technology officer.
They are IIT Delhi alumnus, Padmasree Warrior, the chief technology officer of Silicon Valley networking giant Cisco Systems, and Vivek Kundra, who holds the same title in the government of Washington, D.C.

Entrepreneurship and Innovation in a Global Economy

Since its inception in 2003, the IIT Global Alumni Conference has been a premier business event, bringing together industry visionaries, thought leaders and IIT alumni from across the globe. The Pan IIT 2009 USA conference is to be held in Chicago, from 9-11th October 2009 at the Schaumburg Convention Center.
The main theme of this conference is " Entrepreneurship and Innovation in a
Global Economy." With featured talks from some of the
most eminent industrialists, politicians, academicians and media personnel from
across the globe, IIT 2009 promises to be the biggest one yet. The conference will be a unique forum to meet industry leaders, re-establish old bonds, and network with fellow alumni and their families.

| PanIIT - 2008 Global Alumni Conference - a great success! |

IIT Madras, Chennai hosted the 2008 Annual IIT Conference
 The PanIIT-2008 Global Alumni Conference held at IIT Madras, Chennai during December 19-21, 2008 was a grand succes. About 3000 alumni from around the globe participated in the conference. The theme of the conference was 'Inspire, Innovate, & Transform' and featured over 200 distinguished industry leaders and panelists.
India's Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh delivered his inaugural address over the satellite link and inspired IITans to be transformation partners for a new India. Another eminent speaker, Mr. Robert McDonald, COO of Proctor & Gamble said in his interview with The Hindu, "Our purpose is to improve lives... We still have 2.5 billion to go, those people tend to live in rural areas and at the bottom of the economic pyramid, so innovation is the challenge, how do we innovate for those people.". On the day before the conference, December 18th, 2008, IIT Madras hosted the first ever IIT Idol contest between the bands from the seven IITs. All the participating bands had incorporated the conference theme into their music. The contest judges were known music director Nihal and playback singers Karthik and Naresh Iyer. The IIT Idol title went to the IIT Delhi band Aftermath.
