A New Theatre Equals Three Very Happy Families
Three more children in the greater Houston area have now been helped by Variety, and it was thanks in part to Starplex Cinemas.
Starplex Cinemas President & CEO (and Variety's 2010 Texan of the Year), Steve Holmes, pledged his companies support to children in Texas through a quarterly donation to Variety to provide adaptive equipment to children in the state such as bicycles and wheelchairs at last year's annual golf tournament.
As part of that commitment, Variety was pleased to present three children, and their families, with adaptive bicycles of their very own as part of the grand opening celebrations of the newest Starplex Cinema location in Kingwood this past month.
Thanks to the support of Starplex...Max, Luis and Amaan are now riding in style.
In addition, all the concession proceeds from the evening were split between Variety and the Humble Area Assistance Ministries.
Variety also received some fantastic awareness through speeches during the opening ceremonies, Variety's video playing in the lobby of the theatre during its opening week, a great story in the The Kingwood Observer of two of the bikes, a Fox news story that we will be sharing soon and much more.

NOTE: Think Steve enjoyed himself? We do.

Warming Up in the Bullpen
   HE'S BAAAACK!!!
That's right; one of Variety's favorite kiddos is back. You may remember Garrett from the Fox News Story, you may recall him from Jody Dean's discussion of his story on the air or you may just remember his pictures
No matter how you may remember him, if you remember him at all; Variety is now making it possible for Garrett to throw out the first pitch at the July 8 Texas Rangers game. Then, thanks to the Rangers themselves, he will be watching the game in style in a Suite with his entire family.
Garrett will be Variety's fourth young person in as many years to throw out the first pitch at a Rangers game as part of Variety's and Rehab Specialties annual Take 'em Out to a Ballgame program.
In addition to Garrett's pitch, Variety will be back at the park on September 11 with over 200 children and their families to see the Rangers in action against the New York Yankees.

Details coming soon in terms of ticket availability for the September 11 event and events in the works for Houston with the Astros.
Our "Award Winning" Video
As we hope you are aware, Variety recently was awarded the Silver Heart Award from Variety International.
Now, for the first time outside of a Variety function, you can see the presentation given as part of the judging process.
   Enjoy.
