Dear Variety Supporter,
At this time of year, we are often asked to reflect back over the past year to come up with the things that we are thankful for. What you come up with changes depending upon what events happened in the preceding year, your background and...if we're being honest with each other...your age.
But, at Variety, what we never change what we are thankful for. You see, there are two things that Variety cherishes more than anything else:
1) the children we are privileged to work with, and
2) you! That's right...you. Whether a donor, a volunteer or just a casual e-mail reader; we are thankful to count you as a supporter. |

Variety Brings Mobility to Houston |
They say a smile is worth a thousand words. Well then, in early October Variety wrote a novel by providing over $40,000 of durable medical goods and therapeutic services to children in the Greater Houston area.
Take a look at our "novel" for yourself.

Golfers and Disc Jockey's and Kids...Oh My! |
Variety was thankful for all the support that film row and others showed at our 62nd Annual Golf Tournament this past month.
Our 2009 Texan of the Year, Juli Mitchell of Sony Pictures Releasing, made us promise that there would be no surprises. Boy...did we ever pull that lie off well.
(One of the many surprises of the night was the check presentation above of the $7,000 raised by Sony Pictures Releasing employees on her behalf. The money was used to present one of the children in attendance with a new wheelchair.)
More than 200 individuals took part in this year's event which included a local radio personality (Jody Dean of KLUV), two equipment presentations, a very active live auction, a video presentation from LA and a little round of golf thrown in.
Thanks to everyone who helped us raise over $157,000 for children of Texas.
Testimonial - Hear and see what the mother of a child who received support from Variety has to say about what our assistance meant to her family.
Jody Dean's Heartfelt Message - Hear what Jody Dean (yes, the KLUV guy) told his audience about his first experience with Variety.
Sony Makes It Happen - See the wheelchair presentation made possible by donations from Sony Pictures Releasing employees in honor of our 2009 Texan of the Year, Juli Mitchell.

Fashion & Film...A Winning Combination for the Kids of Texas |
|
Variety would like to thank Osgood-O'Neil for a truly fantastic evening of fun, fashion and fundraising. The 1st ever event Bei Cappelli fashion and hair show hosted by the salon brought in more than $3,400 for the children of Variety. (NOTE: The photo is of Sasha Knowlton speaking about Variety and how we helped her daughter Alrie.)
And, who could forget Sony Pictures Releasing. Thanks for Sony and Cinemark USA, the Texas premiere of 2012 held earlier this month brought in an additional $4,500. |
