Why Not Join Our Mr. X, and Make a Donation Today!
An Anonymous Thank You to an Anonymous Donor
Recently, Variety was given one of the most heartfelt gifts a charity can ever receive. As our Executive Director, Lance Hood, states, "I've been involved with the non-profit community for more than 17 years now. In that time, I've never been the recipient of a gift like this."
What is he talking about? A cash donation to Variety.
But, it is not what the gift was that made it unique. It is the story that goes along with the donation.
An individual recently visited Variety's office with a donation of nearly $1,600 is cash. Not unique on the surface.
The fact that the donor chose not to give his name, and he did not want a tax receipt for the donation, is unique, however.
His very brief time in the office (less than 10 minutes) was capped off with the following statement, "I used to be a selfish man. And, I don't want to be selfish any longer. I found your charity recently, and I know you will do good things with it."
Variety hopes Mr. X, as we affectionately calling him, is on this list. Because, we want to thank him, and let him know that the money is now partially paying for a dental procedure for a 17 year old in Anna, a seating system for a toddler in Cedar Hill and an adaptive bed for a 16 year old in Dallas.
   Thank You!
Looking UP! at Another Special Needs Screener
Up!  The next film in Variety's Special Needs Screening Series is Disney/Pixar's Up. This Saturday, May 30 Variety will be screening Up at Studio Movie Grill locations across the state (Arlington, Dallas, Houston - City Centre, Houston - Copperfield, Lewisville and Plano).
As always, families raising special needs children will be given the opportunity to see a first-run, family friendly film in an environment of their peers.

Thank You for Taking Part in Dallas Giving Day
Variety would like to thank everyone who took part in Dallas Giving Day on behalf of Variety of Texas. While the sponsors of the event are still finalizing all the totals for each charity, Variety believes that more than $10,000 was donated on behalf of our organization and is potentially eligible for the matching funds. The final figures will be available on June 15, and we will announce the official totals then.
