A Well Deserved Word of Thanks

Thomas W. Stephenson, Jr.

There are occasions when saying "Thank You" just do not seem enough.
This is one of those occasions. Variety, and the children whose lives Variety plays a part in, cannot thank Tom Stephenson and the rest of the Rave staff enough for the hard work he (and they) put into this year's 61st Annual Golf Tournament.
Their hard work payed off in a major way for Variety, and will greatly assist us as we move forward in our expansion to promote and protect the health and well-being of children all across Texas.
The Holiday Season is Upon Us
33 Annual Holiday Party   For the past 32 years, Variety has ensured that children all across North Texas have something to smile about during the holiday season. And this year is no different.
On December 13, 2008, Variety will open the doors of Cinemark 17 in Dallas and welcome in approximately 1,000 underprivileged and special needs children from across the Metroplex.
Child at Party   After viewing a first-run, family-friendly film, each child will be given a gift bag and have the chance to meet...let's just say someone special.
For as little as $10, you can ensure that a deserving child has the opportunity to participate in this year's program.  This small amount covers a t-shirt, film for the entire family and a goodie bag for a deserving child.
In addition to the traditional Dallas event, Variety is quickly working to finalize details on hosting similar events in other parts of the state. While these events have not been finalized, we hope to have details avialable soon.
Please consider making a donation to this holiday tradition today.

A Truly Record Breaking Year
2008 Golf Tournament   WOW!!! What more can be said. The 61st Annual Golf Tournament was nothing short of amazing.
With the assistance of 2008 Texan of Year Honoree, Tom Stephenson, and his staff at Rave Motion Pictures, Variety raised $4 shy of $252,000, and showed a net revenue of just under $175,000 for a cost of fundraising of 30.7%. All three were records for this annual tournament.
We encourage you to visit the tournaments wrap-up webpage. From here you can: view a highlight video, see photos from the course, peruse the winners list, see photos from the awards dinner, challenge your friends with the on-course trivia contest (or simply find the answer to that nagging question) and even take another look at some of the sponsorship recognition items.
To everyone who took part in the event...we, and the children of Variety, thank you.
Bolt on Over to the Next Film in Variety's Special Needs Screening Series
Bolt  The next film in Variety's Special Needs Screening Series is Disney's Bolt. Families raising special needs children are welcome to attend the screening free-of-charge (thanks to Variety who covers the cost of the children and Our Children's House at Baylor who is sponsoring the adult tickets) on Saturday, November 22 at the Studio Movie Grill locations in Arlington, Dallas, Lewisville and Plano.
Families living in the Houston area are encouraged to attend the Houston screening where Variety is covering the ticket price for special needs children and their siblings.
