 Variety is all about working with children. And, let's face it...that's what December should be all about.
But, instead of telling you about our upcoming events, which are always available at the calendar link to the left, Variety wants to share with you something much more specail. The letter below demonstrates more than anything we could write ourselves about what we do and why we do it. |
| A Heartfelt Letter of Thanks |
 Put yourself in the shoes of a single mother. Know imagine yourself raising a child who is unable to walk, stand up, feed himself or any of the things we all take for granted. Now, imagine yourself going through a major surgery that makes it difficult, almost impossible, to lift your own child's weight.
This is exaclty the situation Evelyn was facing when she contacted Variety. Through our Heart of Variety Fund, Variety provided David, her son, with a hydrolic, portable lift.
Evelyn recently wrote to Variety and stated,
...I am so grateful that you and your group made it possible for David to be safely moved. Believe me, every day that I walk into David's room and see that lift...it never fails to put a smile on my face. While we live in an age where it seems only the most tragic things make the news, I know that there are heroes among us. There are people like you and the Variety members. What you all do truly makes a positive difference and is a huge contribution to those that need a helping hand...My words seem inadequate but please know that your gift truly blessed us...

Over 170 golfers from across the US joined Variety in October to help us honor Mr. Lee Roy Mitchell and his work with children over the years as Variety's 2007 Texan of the Year.
