The Tantric Dance of Feminine Power is a powerful, sacred and transformative movement modality for women. This is a practice that teaches us to connect with the subtle energies of the body. There are many modalities, spiritual pathways, energetic techniques that can offer teachings on the subtle energies but many times the most powerful element is missing.....the womb and the womb-heart connection. Not to mention pleasure, deep receptivity, heart- piercing devotion and ultimately deity embodiment. The Tantric Dance of Feminine Power helps us to embody the mystery of Goddess and Woman by being fully in our bodies and receiving the power and beauty which lies within. This is not done with imagination or mind but an experienced, visceral reality through the womb.

The Reflection and Reverence of Sisterhood

When I first started to study the Dance with my teacher Vajra Ma I had many different intentions. I wanted to learn more about the Goddess. I wanted to learn magic and ritual. I wanted to weave spirituality with my dance background. I wanted to heal my relationships with men. I wanted to heal myself and live happily-ever-after in bliss. Well, that was more than 10 years ago. My goals in spirituality have transformed and evolved. I have harvested and tasted the fruit of my intentions in all their different stages of ripeness. I have felt the bliss of digesting and assimilating their teachings into my being. But what has been the soil that nurtured, protected, and nourished these long ago intentions? Sisterhood.

I was so busy working on my relationships with men that I was completely shocked when I realized I had a deep mistrust of women. Later I came to realize how this was a reflection of not trusting myself. I was amazed how week after week, year after year, the walls of my judgements came crumbling down. As my heart began to open to each woman I sat with, my heart began to open to myself. It was such a relief to let go of the wasted energy of my comparison mind cultivated by the patriarchal culture surrounding me. I began to see and feel women differently. No longer were they a threat but an enhancement and reflection of the deepest parts of myself. The profound exchange of energy and information that can be passed from woman to woman in the simplest gestures was a revelation. This is where my true healing was. The unveiling of sisterhood may be new to us. In reality, it is ancient

Long ago, in many different cultures, women circled and cycled together on their moontime. Away from artificial light, away from householder duties and responsibilities women would collectively worship the moon and Her connection to their bodies , blood and cycles. They would meditate, counsel and dream for the entire village which would hold in reverence the wisdom of their knowledge. Each woman's individual experience would be enhanced and intensified as the collective energy grew into a palpable container for magic and ritual to emerge. You had to trust your sisters. For a bleeding woman the veils between the worlds are thin, sensitivity is heightened, protection is needed. The female shamanic group would provide the container of safety and protection needed to go into such deep mystical experience.

So, what do we do now in a culture that breeds separation, comparison and competition between women? Yes, it is easy to be in harmony when everyone acts according to our personal code, but what if we are in circle with someone who doesn't? Allow your judgement to dissolve, set up your energetic boundaries and open your heart. Be the example of perfect love and trust. You may be just the doorway for a woman to awaken. And if she doesn't? Do it anyway. we are all in the web together.
