Happy Lammas! Lammas is celebrated on Aug 1st and is the early part of the waning cycle of the year. If you love summer, it may be difficult to acknowledge the beginning of Fall at this time but the days are subtly geting shorter. The beauty of Lammas is the celebration of harvesting the first fruits. What has been asked for at the Spring equinox and Summer solstice is ready to bear fruit. Now is the time to revisit those desires and look into where you can harvest. Ingest your harvest fully, give thanks, and celebrate the cycle!

Deep receptivity is one of the most powerful things we can surrender to. It may seem to us that some of these words may not even fit together. Power, receiving, surrender. In fact, we may even have to change our definition or perception of these words. Our language is loaded with the cultural connotations and stereotypes of these words and how they apply to our gender. Surrender and receptivity are usually associated with the feminine. However, as the feminine has been denigrated and labeled as passive, weak, accommodating etc., any words associated with the feminine have lost their potency as well. For those of you who are dancing the Tantric Dance of Feminine Power you know that our potency and power has not really been lost. It has been pushed underground to gestate and grow until the right factors in our lives cause us to re-member. The more we inhabit our bodies the more we re-member.

We remember that our bodies and our energies are sacred. We remember our ability to move with the ebb and flow of the moon and our female body as an incredible conduit between spirit and matter. We remember the uniqueness of each woman present while being astounded at our fundamental "sameness" We remember true definitions of words such as Beauty, Power, Receptivity, and Surrender and remember that it is the reverence for our bodies and Woman that served as the source for these words. To surrender deeply is to acknowledge our willingness to be touched at the core of our being. We surrender to the knowledge held within and bravely take steps to act upon that knowledge. To methodically cut away the voices of denial, excuses and the "what-ifs" . This is no easy task. We will change. Our lives will change. Deep surrender is an act of power. To knowingly and willingly transform. To receive all that life has to offer without our labels of "good" and "bad" brings us into deep relationship with everything and all. To embrace it all without judgement grants us the gifts of equanimity. What better place to be to make decisions that serve us and serves Spirit? Our discernment can be clear rather than from a place of fear. Walking the path of the Goddess is truly the heroines path. Surrendering to Her power within you and receiving the gifts of Her knowledge is one of the most powerful things I know. Jai Ma!

TANTRIC DANCE BIG SUR November 30, December 1,2, 2007 Melanie and Liz will be hosting, Nita, in Big Sur for our fifth seasonal retreat in 13 months. These retreats into the depth, energy and spirit of this sacred land have been wildly successful and continue to deepen with each cycle. If you have attended before, we'd love to see you again. If you've never been to this craggy, magical stretch of coastline, we would love to have you embark on this journey with us. Our fifth pilgrimage to Big Sur is sandwiched between Samhain and the oncoming winter solstice. Immerse yourself in this charged environment betwixt the ocean and the redwoods. This session is open to both new students wishing to explore the dance and their feminine bodies and returning women that have a desire to delve deeper. The weekend is an intensive workshop consisting of one Friday night session and two sessions on Saturday, followed with our traditional closing circle and communal brunch on Sunday morning. Details will be mapped out once the series is full and we know who will be attending; that specific mix of women will determine the alchemy of the weekend. Feel free to enjoy the beauty of Big Sur between sessions; hiking the dramatic mountains, exploring the beaches, visiting the Henry Miller Library, lounging at the River Inn, getting a massage at Esalen and/or enjoying their baths overlooking the ocean...the list goes on.

The Tantric Dance of Feminine Power is a highly focused movement meditation for women. This modality connects us to the essence of Tantra which is woman's body as the microcosm of the universe. This yogic practice of Knowledge, Beauty, and Power helps connect women to the power of their feminine bodies, specifically the power of the womb-our own innate source of bliss and knowledge. In this weekend workshop we will experience deep body exploration through highly focused movement meditations, breath and sound. In a circle of support, each woman will have an opportunity to delve fully into her body and learn the techniques of embodying the Goddess. Instructor Nita Rubio is an ordained priestess with Woman Mysteries of the Ancient Future Sisterhood, a mystery school based in feminist spirituality, Goddess Herstory, Tantric Mysticism, ritual skills, and subtle body energetics. Nita teaches the core work of the lineage which is the Tantric Dance of Feminine Power. We hope you'll share this weekend with us.
