What is The Tantric Dance of Feminine Power?
Good question. This question even stumps me.
Whenever I have a woman on the phone interested
in the Dance I take a deep breath, cross my fingers
that some good verbal pictures will come through
and take the plunge. I can hear those of you currently
immersed in the work laughing right now. This
modality is so difficult to language as the T.D.
eventually takes us out of the linear mind that
compartmentalizes, categorizes, grasps, measures,
compares, and any other dual thinking that creates
separation. However, in order to describe the Tantric
Dance we need to use language. Most of our
language is dualistic. To know what hot is, we must
know cold. To know dark, we must know light.
To be attracted to this modality is to listen to the deep
"voice" inside that there is something Divine and
Awake within you. Something that Knows . The funny
thing is, you may not have words for what this
Knowing is. It is a feeling, an impression. Something
shadowy in the twilight when all is quiet within you.
The part of you that trusts to be fully in the Mystery.
This Mystery is not known with words, with the ego,
with descriptive language, it can only be experienced
with ALL our being. It is up to each Woman which
path she will take to experience this Mystery. Each
woman is unique.
So, here is my attempt. To describe the
indescribable. The Tantric Dance of Feminine Power
is a movement modality that connects us to the subtle
energies of the body. It is said, that there are 10,000
nadis/meridians of energy in the body. Many of us
have felt the major nadi's of energy called chakras.
But what about the other 9,993? They are there.
Whispering intelligence, impressions, information.
However, we are so de-sensitized to the subtle we
miss out on this incredible intelligence. We miss out
on the language of the Goddess within us, for in
Tantra the subtle energies are the Goddess Herself.
That being said, the Tantric Dance also connects us
to the powerhouse of woman's body-the womb. The
importance of our wombs cannot be overstated. The
womb is our deeply feminine, biological connection
to the creative force of the cosmos. The connection to
the power of Shakti, our visceral experience of the
mysteries of life and death, our microcosm to the
macrocosm of the void. To experience the ecstasy of
the Goddess, to understand power-from-within, to
release the societal conditionings of our dis-
empowerment, there is nowhere to go, but the womb.
Here is where our power truly lies. We are not talking
about concepts here. But a true experience of
embodying the Goddess from within.
There is so much more to the Tantric Dance of
Feminine Power. The circle of Sisterhood and re-
connection to the female shamanic group.
Experience of the wisdom of our sexuality without the
male gaze on it. The power of deep receptivity and
surrender. The heart of devotion and desire. The gift
of spontaneity and getting out of our own way and
agendas. The grace of deity embodiment. The dance
truly is an inner darshan. Many of these topics will be
explored in further newsletters. For now, I invite any
current students to write your experience of The
Tantric Dance of Feminine Power or perhaps your
experience of any nuance of the Dance. I would love
to hear how any of you perceive the Divine Mother.
Perhaps, we will include it in future newsletters!
Much Love and Jai Ma!
