Yes We Can!
Determined NET Patients In Their Own Words
Happy spring!
In this E-blast, I'm profiling 3 women as they write about their experiences with carcinoid and neuroendorcine cancers. Each of these women helps us all - by raising awareness of NET cancers through blogging, wearing our bright and distinctive t-shirts in national events, and raising funds to cure NET cancers. Three incredible women who are seizing life and making a difference for themselves and for us all. My heartfelt thanks to each of you. Click here to read my full blog. Would you like to be a force of change? Would you like to make a difference for yourself and others? Scroll through the events listed in the left-hand column. If you and your friends can participate, drop us a line. You'll never regret your experience and the joy that you find. |

Hana - pancreatic neuroendocrine patient, national blogger, 2011 LA 5K runner
Excerpted from the Huffington Post, published March 18:
"I was diagnosed with a rare and still incurable c ancer, discovered accidentally: pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer, with metastases in various parts of my abdomen. The diagnosis and its consequences were very difficult not only on my body, but also on my mind... Running was an activity of the past." Read the full article about HOW Hana was able to return to running after the devastation of this this totally unexpected and difficult diagnosis. |

Kari - carcinoid cancer patient & 2010 Chicago Marathon runner (and finisher!)
In 2010, Kari, 30 years old, wrote, "This year's big goal is to run my first (and probably only) full length marathon." She compares training for a marathon to searching for a cure for cancer: "It's a long, dedicated task with each step taking us one step closer to our ultimate goal." Kari continues, "The donations I've received [for the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation] have exceeded my expectations. Not only have we raised over $1500, I'm currently at $1800. So what's next? How far can we go? Just because we surpassed our goal, does that mean it's time to stop now? No, heck no. Let's keep going. Just as with my training, there's always more steps that can be taken and more that can be done to reach our ultimate goal - finish the race, and find a cure...What can you do to help us make a difference, to help the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation find a cure?" Read more about Kari's inspiring story by reading her blog, especially her pre- and post-marathon entries! |

Jan - carcinoid cancer patient & SCOPE run/walk organizer

Jan fights for a cure in the following ways:
"I'm involved with and support organizations focused on carcinoid issues and cures. I spread what I learn about carcinoid to others who are touched by this disease and I do all I can to make others aware of carcinoid." Jan's caring words of encouragement:
"Look at the glass as half-full, not half-empty; stay positive.
Our efforts will help those who are yet to be touched (but will be) by the disease; perhaps our efforts will assist us in extending our own relatively healthy life expectancies..." Team CFCF Walks Again! For the 6th consecutive year, Jan rallied the troops for the SCOPE 5K run/walk in Houston. Just this past weekend, on March 26, Jan and her 110-person(!) team led the charge and raised over $8,000 for carcinoid and neuroendocrine cancer research!!!
