April 12 FDA Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee Meeting
In just three weeks, the FDA Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee (ODAC) will meet to discuss supplemental New Drug Applications for Afinitor (RAD 001 or everolimus) and Sutent (sunitinib malate). The FDA is inviting interested individuals to present data, information, and stories.
CFCF would like to address the FDA on behalf of neuroendocrine cancer patients and we need your help. Please help by sharing your experiences - good or bad - with Afinitor or Sutent. Lauren Blogs About CFCF's Clinical Trials Event in LA
Last weekend, CFCF and Cedars Sinai Medical Center teamed up for the 3rd Annual Neuroendocrine Tumor Patient Education Conference. The seminar focused on clinical trials, highlighting important issues for patients to consider. The afternoon included informative presentations from Dr. Edward Wolin, Dr. Randolph Hecht, and Dr. Ronald Natale, as well as a thought-provoking and inspirational patient panel. Over 100 to Walk to A Cure in the SCOPE Race on 3.26
Are you ready for the 6 th annual SCOPE 5K run/walk in Houston, TX? This Saturday, come cheer on the 100+ members of Team CFCF! The day will be filled with games, music, food, and more family-friendly fun. Every dollar raised by Team CFCF will fund vital neuroendocrine cancer research. The deadline for pre-registration is March 24 at 3PM. Please note that joining Team CFCF is a two-step process. First, click here to make your donation. Running the Country Music Marathon for Payton and Jacob
On April 30, the family and friends of Payton Farnell Graeber and Jacob Carwile will honor their memories by running the Country Music Marathon and Half-Marathon.
In her team's blog, Payton's sister Sarah writes, "I have healed so much in the years since my sister died, and this race has been such a crucial part of the healing process... This year we are running not only to remember those we have lost, but to celebrate those who remained behind and who have fought so hard to regain their lives."

Fundraising Dinner and Silent Auction in Weston, MA
CFCF is proud of its partnership with the MTH Foundation. The MTH Foundation is dedicated to fulfilling the life pursuits and dreams of Mary Terese Hartzheim, a loving family member, an accomplished long distance runner and teammate to many, a loving wife, and a friend you could trust. On Sunday, April 17, please join us for a dinner and silent auction sponsored by the MTH Foundation to benefit CFCF. The evening will also include guest speakers Alberto Salazar, Olympian and world-class marathoner, and Dr. Michael Choi, recipient of the Mary Terese Hartzheim Award for Neuroendocrine Tumor Research. New Drivers of Cancers, CFCF-Funded Research Discussed in Science
Through a grant funded by CFCF, researchers at Johns Hopkins explored the genetic basis of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors. Their article, "DAXX/ATRX, MEN1, and mTOR Pathway Genes Are Frequently Altered in Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors" (abstract located here), has been noted by the scientific community.
Recently, an piece titled, "New Epigenetic Drivers of Cancers" was published in Science. Its authors responded directly to the "pioneering techniques" the researchers at Johns Hopkins employ in their research. If you would like to read the abstract, please click here.
