Neuroendocrine Tumor Clinical Trials in the News
Recent clinical trials results have been receiving a lot of attention in the media. Two studies investigating treatments for pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors have been published in a recent issue of the New England Journal of Medicine. The papers cite data from phase 3, placebo-controlled trials of sunitinib malate (Sutent) and everolimus (Afinitor or RAD-001). Both therapies were found to extend progression-free survival for patients with pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors. If you'd like to learn more, please click here.
All patients should discuss any potential treatment or change in care with a physician well-versed in treating patients with neuroendocrine cancer. Please visit CFCF's Doctor Database or call 617.948.2514 for help in finding such a physician.

CFCF Clinical Trials Neuroendocrine Tumor Patient Education Conference in Los Angeles
In recent years, clinical trial options for neuroendocrine tumor patients have increased. How can patients evaluate the benefits of one clinical trial vs. another? What do terms like "progression free survival" and "radiographic response" mean?
Join us in Los Angeles on March 19, 2011 for answers to these and other pressing questions regarding current clinical trials for neuroendocrine tumor patients. Click here to view the agenda featuring Dr. Edward Wolin and Dr. Ronald Natale from Cedars-Sinai, Dr. J. Randolph Hecht from UCLA, and Lauren Erb from CFCF.
To ensure that your clinical trials questions are answered, please be sure to submit them to info@caringforcarcinoid.org by March 11, 2011. The conference is part of CFCF's third annual Patient Education Weekend. The weekend will include the Los Angeles 5K Run/Walk (March 19), a Friends of CFCF Luncheon (March 19), and the Los Angeles Marathon (March 20). To learn more about the conference and for details on how to register, please visit CFCF' website or call 617.948.2514. |
