Join CFCF in the 2010 Chicago Marathon!
Join CFCF's Executive Director, Lauren Erb, and returning team captain, Katie Effler, in the 2010 Bank of American Chicago Marathon. The Caring for Carcinoid Foundation invites you, or someone you know, to come join us on October 20th to run or walk for a cure. All funds raised will go to support the first large-scale genome study of carcinoid cancer, so put on your running shoes and register today!

Support Group Highlight: Jan Peine from the Houston Area Carcinoid Support Group
The Caring for Carcinoid Foundation would like to thank Jan Peine, leader of the Houston Area Carcinoid NETwork, for all her support in planning and executing the inaugural CFCF Neuroendocrine Tumor Patient Education Seminar at MD Anderson Cancer Center on April 30. Jan has also been a tremendous leader of Team CFCF in the MD Anderson SCOPE Race; Jan has raised over $25,000 through this event to support MD Anderson's participation in the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation Neuroendocrine Tumor Bioconsortium. Thank you Jan for your passion to fulfill the CFCF mission and for your commitment to the carcinoid community!
Neuroendocrine Tumor Patient Education Day at MD Anderson
On April 30, CFCF hosted our first Patient Education Seminar at MD Anderson, with the help of our premier sponsor, Novartis Oncology, and additional sponsors, Lexicon Pharmaceuticals and Endo Pharmaceuticals. The conference included presentations, question and answer sessions, and panel discussions focused on providing patients with a comprehensive understanding of neuroendocrine tumor treatment options. Topics covered included: Determining the Best Surgical Approach for Neuroendocrine Tumor Patients, Current and Upcoming Clinical Trials, Understanding Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy (PRRT), the Role of Radioembolization and Neuroendocrine Tumor Symptom Management.

In Celebration of an Extraordinary Life
To mark the ten year anniversary of Lynne W. Marcus's death from carcinoid cancer, Lynne's son and CFCF Director, Jonathan Soroff, paid tribute to his mother and raised funds for the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation. Lynne is remembered as a woman of extraordinary hospitality, warmth, and graciousness. Family and friends united in Boston, MA to celebrate this life well lived. The event raised over $10,000 in honor of Lynne Marcus to fund research to find a cure for carcinoid cancer.
Join Dr.Lowell Anthony on May 8 in Washington, DC for a Presentation on Carcinoid Cancer  
Meet Dr. Lowell Anthony, MD of the Ochsner Medical Center Neuroendocrine Tumor Program on May 8 in a seminar hosted by Capital Area Carcinoid Survivors in the Washington DC area. This is a great opportunity to learn about treatments and ongoing carcinoid cancer and related neuroendocrine tumor research. The seminar will take place at the Inova Fairfax Hospital. Click here for details.
 
Dr. Lowell Anthony is the Director of Gastrointestinal and Neuroendocrine Oncology and Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, LA. Dr. Anthony has also served on staff at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Anthony presented on the Role Radiopeptide Therapy for Neuroendocrine Tumors in CFCF's recent conference at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
