Host earns highest praise for having captured the feelings of a mother with cancer." CFCF-funded Researcher Charts Genomic Map of Over Two Dozen Cancers CFCF-funded researcher, Dr. Matthew Meyerson of the Dana-Faber Cancer Institute is leading a collaboration to create a genomic map of 26 cancers. This study, the largest of its kind, reveals 100 genomic sites where DNA from tumors is missing or abnormally duplicated compared to normal tissues. The results show that genetic abnormalities are not unique to one form of cancer, but are universal across different cancers.
This study suggests that in the future we will see common strategies for treating different types of cancer based on common genetic alterations rather than the tumors' tissue of origin. Click here to view the full article. Click here to hear Dr. Meyerson discuss the study.
