| ROSE COLLERAN RUNS BOSTON MARATHON FOR CFCF |
|
Fundraising to honor friend with carcinoid cancer
Rose Colleran is devoting her 2008 Boston Marathon fundraising to carcinoid cancer research:
" In 2006 a very dear friend of mine was diagnosed with Carcinoid Cancer. Carcinoid is a deadly neuroendocrine cancer without a cure and for which chemotherapy is typically ineffective. So far she has survived the removal of half her lung and hundreds of small tumors that were attached. She now goes for routine body scans looking for the likely recurrence of these tumors in the same or other areas of her body while she waits for a cure.
My friend knew that I qualified to run the Boston Marathon this year and asked if I would be willing to raise funds for the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation. The Caring for Carcinoid Foundation was founded to support leading scientists whose research may lead to a cure for carcinoid. Of course, I said yes."

| 2008 RUN FOR HOPE HOSTED BY JEANNE LAMBERT OPEN FOR REGISTRATION |
|
4th annual 5K charity event on July 26, 2008
CFCF proudly supports the annual Run for Hope hosted by Jeanne Lambert.
Jeanne has dedicated this year's event to Lee Curtis who died of carcinoid cancer on Aug 21, 2007. Read Jeanne's dedication:
"The 2008 Run for Hope 5K is dedicated in honor and memory of Lee Curtis (our #1 registrant from our first 5K, committee member, brother, husband and friend to all). Lee was unable to attend this past race due to his end of life struggle with carcinoid cancer. Pictured above are Lee and I the afternoon of the 5K event, August 11th, 2007. It was clear to me our earthly hellos and goodbyes were imminent. Needless to say, that afternoon was a difficult and tearful time - not just that day, but for the next ten days when it was time to say our forever goodbye. Lee died of complications from carcinoid cancer on August 21st, 2007.
The good news is, one blessed day, we will say hello again and he will be so proud of all for our continual effort as each 5K event will be equal to a pebble thrown into the ocean and finally a wave will result...then as with HOPE comes REALITY, Cancer will be NO MORE! It will not have been in vain but truly a completed "RUN for HOPE"!"
Winston Churchill (1871-1965): "Success is not final, failure is not final. It is the courage to continue that counts."
