Thanksgiving 2010
Dear Friends and Customers,

First of all, we wish to give thanks for your support of us and our family business over the years.  We are truly grateful for your patronage and loyalty!

With Thanksgiving a week away, this is a perfect time to think about how to "drop a hint"
turkey
Gobble!
about what gift(s) you might like your family members to get you for the holidays.  I've found that family and friends really appreciate it when you make a gift suggestion - it means that they don't have to
put a lot of effort into placing  that check mark next to your name on the gift list.

Here's my plan on what I'm gonna say (at the appropriate time, of course) at the Thanksgiving table next week.  Don't tell Liese, I want it to have maximum effect!:

"That poor red 1966 Ford Mustang sitting in the neighbor's driveway across the street looks pitiful.  Every day I see it parked there in the Mustangcold with no shelter.  The back windows are busted out and the rain pours in.  That classic American beauty is sure to be headed for the scrap heap if some generous soul doesn't garage it, restore it, and show it the proper care it deserves!"

Whaddaya think?  I know, it's a long shot....but you get the idea....

In the same vein, as you are giving thanks at the table for family and all blessings bestowed, you may want to take the opportunity to mention how thankful you are that, through the end of the year, Oak Hill Gardens has added 10% bonus dollars to every gift certificate ordered!

Hey, even if the suggestion goes over like a lead balloon, here's a backup plan - order one for yourself!  We don't care who pays for it, and you still get the 10% bonus dollars to spend for free!  "Happy Holidays - to me, from me!"

Just go to our homepage, look for the menu in green lettering on the left hand side, and click on "Gift Certificates."  Ordering a $50.00 gift certificate will cost the purchaser exactly $50.00 (we waive the mailing costs), but the certificate will be written for $55.00.  This 10% bonus applies to any denomination.  If you don't see the dollar amount you want to spend on the web page, just phone us, and we will fill out a custom certificate just for you or yours.

We wish you a Peaceful and Happy Thanksgiving with Family and Friends!

Thanks Again,
Greg, Liese and Hermann

 NOTE ABOUT SHIPPING PERISHABLES
box of orchids
heat packs included for free!
Holiday Plant Shipping Policy
Right now the weather is reasonably warm and acceptable for shipping plants.  We do our best to protect shipped perishables with double boxes and heat packs.  However, past experience has shown us that there are particular weeks around the holidays which must be avoided with regard to shipping perishable items, as the carriers are overloaded and become less reliable when it comes to timely delivery.

Our normal guidelines, designed to avoid holiday-related shipping delays/mishandling (i.e. "frozen plants") are as follows:

We will not be shipping plants the week of Thanksgiving (next week!) unless the customer wishes to assume the risk.

We will ship perishable items (plants) at our risk on the following Mondays (and Tuesdays, if necessary):

November 29th
December 6th

We will then suspend the shipping of plants from December 8th through January 2nd, unless the customer wishes to assume the risk of delay and/or damage to the plants.

We offer these guidelines in case you are thinking about adding to your collection or ordering party/holiday decorations or gifts.

Non-perishable items (growing suppplies) may be shipped anytime during this period at our risk, as any delivery delay should not pose a threat to the merchandise.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,

Greg, Liese and Hermann
