We are enjoying an Indian summer here at the moment, a welcome change from October's unusual stretch of well below normal temps. A perfect time to remind everyone of our
"Holiday Plant Shipping Policy."
We do our best to protect shipped plants with double boxes and heat packs. However, past experience has shown us that there are particular weeks around the holidays which must be avoided with regard to shipping perishable items. Our normal guidelines, designed to avoid holiday-related shipping delays/mishandling (i.e. "frozen plants") are as follows:
We will ship perishable items (plants) at our risk on the following Mondays
(and Tuesdays, if necessary):
November 16th
November 30th
December 7th
We will not be shipping perishable items the week of Thanksgiving (November 23rd).
We will suspend the shipping of plants from from December 9th-January 3rd, unless the customer assumes the risk of delay and/or damage to the plants.
We offer these guidelines in case you are thinking about adding to your collection or ordering party/holiday decorations or gifts, so that you may plan ahead to have them shipped in time.
NON-PERISHABLES (growing supplies) may be shipped anytime during this period at our risk, as any delivery delay should not pose a threat to the merchandise.
This year, we have decided to offer our
Gift Certificate Bonus Special a few weeks
early. Now, through the end of the year, order a gift certificate and receive 10% bonus dollars on any dollar amount. Fall Orchid Classes will be held on Saturday, November 21st here at Oak Hill Gardens. See details in the box below.
We also will deliver Gift Baskets of beautiful blooming orchids and greens to almost anywhere in the Chicagoland area, including city and suburbs. These gifts (whether for you or for a friend or relative!) can be delivered on Thursdays via a heated van any time of year. They start at $30.00, but we can make them as elaborate, beautiful and expensive as your tastes and friends require. Give us a call to discuss options.
