Hi there!
We hope that your summer has gone well, and that you have been able to escape at least some of the heat that has permeated almost our entire nation this season. The plants here have certainly enjoyed it, but the humans have suffered some in the process!
The end of summer means that the Fall orchid show season is nearing, and what better way to kick it off than the 15th Annual Chicagoland Orchid Festival! The festival takes place at four different nurseries here in the Chicago area, including Oak Hill Gardens. The dates are Friday-Sunday, September 21-22-23, 2007. Only three weeks away!
In addition to free refreshments and free plants with every purchase here are Oak Hill, we will be hosting six guest growers/suppliers from all over the country. The other three hosting locations will have similar attractions. See the festival website at the link below for details:
Just posted to our website are over 120 brand new offerings of orchid varieties. The new items are summarized at the following link, but can also be found in their rightful place in the main sections of the webiste:
In addition, for September only we have just added an enticing Bulbophyllum/Cirrhopetalum September special on our homepage. Check out the details further down in the newsletter.
Liese has once again graced us with more wisdom on orchid growing with another "Tip of the Month" for September. You can find that article further down the page, as well.
Thank you for your continued support! We hope to see you at the festival in a few weeks.
Best Wishes,
Greg, Liese and Hermann
